Wooing voters with promises of effective and transparent governance, removing Protected Area Permit (PAP) and implementing Inner Line Permit System among others, All India Trinamool Congress today released its election manifesto in connection with the upcoming General elections to the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly.
The election manifesto of the party observed that the 10th state Assembly election in Manipur is being held in the backdrop of unprecedented chaos, uncertainties and anarchy.
There is untold story of devastating psychological and social consequences, in addition to the physical trauma.
The need of the hour is for both the Centre and the state governments to have the will-power to solve the myriad problems facing the state.
Noting that the scourge of corruption with all its manifestation has touched such a high level that people have lost faith in the administration and the government, Trinamool Congress promised that the party will work for effective and transparent governance.
The election manifesto assured that the party would take up all possible steps to promote unity and peaceful co-existence among the people, protect and develop the lifelines, implement Inner Line Permit system as done in other North Eastern States, remove PAP totally, resolve insurgency problems through amicable political solution, evolve a comprehensive policy for development of youth and creation of a credible and transparent mechanism for government jobs, empowering women, strive for protection of human rights and gradual reduction of presence of security forces in the state, ensure formation of State Legislative Council for representation of smaller ethnic groups and development of human resources.
Furthermore, Trinamool Congress promises to strive for meaningful involvement of the state in India's Look East Policy and Globalisation process, safeguard the interest of small and tiny retail traders and vendors, promote dignity of labour for farmers, fishermen and those in un-organised sectors, evolve a comprehensive farmer friendly agricultural policy, univeralisation of Public Distribution System and promotion of tourism sector.
Some other salient features of the manifesto include improvement of health care system, basic civic amenities, environment and welfare for the employees including journalists, promotion of tribal dialects to promote composite culture, building of cordial relationship with neighbouring states and acceleration of Railway works for better transport and communication, etc.
Releasing the election manifesto, National Spokesperson of All India Trinamool Congress Derick O' Brien informed that Chairperson of Trinamool Congress and Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee would be coming to Imphal on January 25 to campaign for the party candidates.
She would address a large public meeting at Langjing Achouba ground.
Pointing out that Trinamool Congress is contesting 47 seats in the 60 Assembly Constituencies of Manipur, Derick reiterated that his party would fight in the election alone and there would be no pre-poll alliance with other political parties.
Trinamool Congress is in power in West Bengal with absolute majority and the party has elected MLAs in Arunachal Pradesh as well, he added.
Working President of Trinamool Congress Youth Wing Saorab Chakrabarti and President of Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Congress Kim Gangte were also present during the release of party's election manifesto.
