Imphal, February 19 2014: Irked with President of BJP Manipur Pradesh Thounaojam Chaoba's alleged favourtism over recommendation of candidates for allotting the party's ticket for the coming Lok Sabha polls, a large number of agitated womenfolk today stormed the head-office of BJP Manipur Pradesh located at Nityaipat Chuthek here demanding Chaoba's resignation.

Altogether seven politicians of the State (four for the Inner Manipur & three for the Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituencies) are vying for the BJP ticket to contest in the coming Lok Sabha election.

Dr RK Rajan, Indira Oinam, Col Joyraj Chungkham and Lt Col RK Rajendra are in race for the Inner ticket, while Prof Gangumei Kamei, Loli Adani and Yanglet Haokip are competing for the Outer ticket.

The women protestors alleged that President Chaoba has recommended only the name of Dr RK Ranjan to the high command of BJP for allotting the party's ticket with respect to Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency by undermining the other three aspirants, particularly the BJP woman leader Indira Oinam.

State BJP President has shown undue favourtism by trying to allot the party's ticket to Dr Ranjan.

He should have made the recommendation in the real interest of the people of Manipur.

He is not fit to be people's leader and ought to resign from the presidency on moral ground, they said.

The protestors even claimed that a group State BJP leaders met National President Rajnath Singh, former President Nitin Gadkari and other national leaders in New Delhi today and submitted a memorandum urging them to look into the alleged misconduct of State President Thounaojam Chaoba.

The unruly incident took place at around 1 pm while Chaoba was addressing some media persons at his office room at Nityaipat Chuthek BJP office.

The women protestors shouted slogans repeatedly against State President Chaoba for his alleged misconduct and undue favourtism shown to Dr Ranjan in the process of allotting party's ticket.

Later talking to media persons, Chaoba clarified that the whole matter of allotting party's ticket for the coming Lok Sabha election is handled by the national leaders and he cannot do anything in this regard.

"As the popularity of BJP is increasing, more such incidents (protests) will happen.

In democracy, everyone has the right to protest and express out their grievances publicly.

There is nothing wrong with today's protest", the State President averred.

Indications are that the BJP ticket for the Inner Manipur constituency may go to Dr RK Ranjan, a former Manipur University academician.

As regards the reserved Outer Manipur constituency, former Minister and academic Gangumei Kamei is likely to get the BJP ticket.
