76th Republic Day celebrated with patriotic fervour

The 76th Republic Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour across the State on Sunday.
Republic Day marks the adoption of India's constitution and the country's transition to a republic on January 26, 1950 .
Manipur Central Jail
The 76th Republic Day was celebrated at the Directorate of Prisons, Manipur & Manipur Central Jail, Sajiwa yesterday.
As part of the celebration, the National Flag was unfurled at the Directorate by SK Bhadrika, MJS, Superintendent, Manipur Central Jail, Imphal & Sajiwa.
Commendation Certificates were also awarded to a total of 18 officers, staff, and personnel from Manipur Central Jail, Imphal, Manipur Central Jail, Sajiwa, and the 5th IRB posted at Manipur Central Jail, Sajiwa.
These awards were presented by the Superintendent in acknowledgment of their exemplary conduct and commitment throughout the year 2024.Later, sweets were distributed to the inmates of Manipur Central Jail, Imphal, Manipur Central Jail, Sajiwa, Foreigner Detention Centre, Sajiwa, and Women Foreigner Detention Center, Imphal, under the supervision of the Superintendent.
The event was a solemn yet celebratory occasion, reflecting the spirit of Republic Day.
Indian Army
The Indian Army also celebrated the 76th Republic Day with enthusiasm and patriotic fervor across multiple locations in Manipur, fostering unity, national pride and harmony among the communities.
At Leimakhong Military Station, a solemn yet joyous ceremony was organised, bringing together students, teachers, and Army personnel.
Children from Red Shield Army Pre-Primary School, Kendriya Vidyalaya, Disha School and L&H Bethel School participated in the event.
According to a release issued by PIB (Defence Wing), the ceremony commenced with the unfurling of the National Flag, followed by recitation of the National Anthem.
The event concluded with the distribution of sweets, symbolizing unity and joy, leaving a lasting impression on the younger generation.
In Bongmol village of Thoubal district and Genesis Academy in New Canaan village of Ukhrul district, a flag hoisting ceremony was held with servicemen and villagers in a shared moment of pride and camaraderie.
Also, children, teachers, and locals from different communities came together to celebrate Republic Day, fostering unity and pride in the nation's heritage at Paramount Standard English School in Leikhoching, Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya in Andro (Imphal East), Khurkhul in Imphal West, and the villages of Dwarika and Makhan in Kangpokpi district.
Flag hoisting ceremonies were held in collaboration with locals at Hautak, Sendra, and Wangusabal in Bishnupur district, as well as Siden in Churachandpur district.
These events featured games for children and women, a painting competition that highlighted creative expressions of patriotism, and friendly volleyball matches.
The Indian Army's Republic Day celebrations across Manipur reflected its dedication to promoting unity, harmony, and national pride.
These events strengthened the bond between the armed forces and the people of Manipur, inspiring a collective commitment towards building a strong and united nation.
Sainik School
Sainik School Imphal also celebrated the 76th Republic Day with patriotic zeal and fervor at the school premises yesterday.
Principal of the school, Col A Rajiv unfurled the tri-color and addressed the cadets.
He underscored the importance of this historical day on which the country became a Sovereign Democratic Republic and highlighted that it was on this day in 1950 that the Constitution of India came into existence.
He also advised the cadets to remember their duties and responsibilities to protect the sovereignty of the nation and to render their selfless contribution towards the cause of the country.
A Speech Competition was also organised and prizes were distributed to the winning cadets.
RIMS
The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, also celebrated the 76th Republic Day with enthusiasm and patriotic fervour yesterday.
The event was graced by Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director of RIMS, as the chief guest, along with faculty members, staff, students, and other dignitaries.
The event included the hoisting of the National Flag and a keynote address highlighting Republic Day's significance, the values of the Constitution, and RIMS's contributions to healthcare and education.
The Director also outlined plans to transform RIMS into a state-of-the-art facility with a 750-bedded hospital and modem infrastructure by 2030, while promoting environmental sustainability through reduced single-use plastics, improved waste management, and tree plantation initiatives.
He emphasized RIMS's dedication to nation-building, unity, and patriotism, encouraging collective efforts for a "Viksit Bharat" by 2047 .

Dattatreya Hosabale, sarkaryawah (general secretary) of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), marked the 76th Republic Day celebrations with an inspiring speech at Bhaskar Prabha, Imphal West.
The event, characterized by patriotic fervor, began with Hosabale hoisting the National Flag, as the crowd joined in resounding renditions of Vande Mataram.
In his address, Hosabale emphasized the spirit of unity, cultural pride, and the responsibilities of every citizen of Bharat.
Highlighting the sacred identity of the nation, he remarked, "From the Himalayas to the Bharat Mahasagar, this land is Bharat, and everyone within it is Bharatiya".
Drawing attention to the cultural essence of India's Constitution, he pointed out its reflections of the nation's heritage through its illustrations and principles.
He also stressed the importance of prioritizing fundamental duties over rights, citing examples from Indian history.
Urging citizens to contribute to the nation's progress, he said, "It is both our responsibility and fundamental duty to strengthen and develop our motherland".
The speech concluded with a call for citizens to pledge their commitment to preserving democracy, unity, and national integrity.
The celebrations at Bhaskar Prabha witnessed a wave of patriotic enthusiasm, with the tricolor soaring high and the echoes of nationalistic songs filling the air.
