'Wings of Hope' launches SHG skill training centre

Imphal, April 26 2025: Wings of Hope Charitable Trust began its 2nd phase of activities for 2025 with the inauguration of a "Self Help Group Skill Training Centre" at Sana Janmasthan Club, Keishamthong, Imphal.

The centre intents to train 30 widows and less privileged women-all victims of the current crisis-who continue to live amidst uncertainty in far-flung villages like Khumbong, Sanjem Chirang, Khurkhul, Pangei, Itham-Nungoi, Oksu Ningthemcha, Takhel, Salungpham, Kakching Khunou, Pangaltabi, and Serou.

According to a statement from the Trust, the initial phase will provide training in four skills including tailoring, Kauna (water reed) basket making, crochet doll making, and scented candle making.

"After one month of training, the trainees will be equipped with necessary materials and machines to start "Neighbourhood Micro level Production Centres" at their localities.

Wings of Hope will continue handholding these widows and women until they transform into -Self-reliant Homemakers' with honest and sincere earnings," the statement said.

Simultaneously, the Trust continues its support for the education of 58 children (27 boys and 31 girls) of the 35 widows.

After a successful first year of the education mission in 2024-25, the second year began in April 2025.Notably, four students passed Class 12 with very good results, two of whom scored letter marks in science subjects and achieved above 77 per cent marks.

They were given a token cash reward for their success.

Trust president retired Lt Col L Manongba, expressed gratitude to all donors and well-wishers, especially friends from the armed forces, and called for continued support to help realise the vision of enabling Nari Shakti at the local levels.
