However, the villagers dismissed the report with no water pipe being connected to the incomplete reservoir constructed in the middle of the village and not a single household has been connected with tap water connection till date.
Mention may be made that an MoU was signed regarding the incomplete construction and laying of pipelines for the Augmentation of Rikhumai Taphou Water Supply Scheme (JJM), it was clarified that a joint meeting with the Rikhumai Taphou Village Authority headed by PH Fuvei, Chairman and LS Sousa, Secretary along with all the Village Authorities, the concerned Contractor D Neli, and PHED officials of Senapati PHED, Senapati Division was held on Sept 10, 2024 at Senapati, and resolved to complete the pending works and laying of pipelines on or before December 20, 2024.During the meeting, Rikhumai Taphou Village Authority agreed to extend full cooperation in executing the work process in the interest of the village and public.
However no work has been taken up even after having signed the MoU, alleged the village authorities.
Speaking to media persons, Ph Fuvei, Village chairman stated that the villagers were surprised to see the completion status report published on the website of the PHED, Senapati Division, when the reservoir that has been constructed in the village lay incompleted.
"No water pipe has been brought or connected to the reservoir and not even a single house has been connected with tap water connection till date," said Fuvei.
The village chairman urged the higher authorities to look into the urgent need of the hour within this month or the villagers may be compelled to take extreme steps which they may deem fit, they warned.
