Dr Bimol bats for quarterly meeting of DISHA Committee

The two-day District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting for Imphal East district held at the Panchayat Bhavan, Imphal East DC Office Complex, Porompat, concluded on Sunday.
The meeting chaired by Inner Manipur MP and DISHA Committee chairperson Dr Angomcha Bimol Akoijam and organised by the district administration, was participated by officials of various departments in the district.
Representatives from various government departments, including Education, Rural Development, Agriculture, Social Welfare, Housing and Urban Development, etc., presented updates on centrally sponsored schemes.

On Saturday, District Level Officers (DLOs) delivered comprehensive presentations on the implementation of various development programmes, including PM POSHAN, PMGSY, PMAY-G, MGNREGS, Smart Cities Mission and many others while the last day had DLOs of different departments including Medical, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, PHED, CAF&PD, Transport, OBC and SC, DIC, DIO, DYASO, Handloom and Textile and SLEE participated and delivered inclusive presentations on various National and State sponsored schemes and programmes such as NHM, NTEP,UDIO, NADCP, NAIP, NJM, RGM, NPDD, ICDS, BBPS, PMMVY, OSC, JJM,NFSA, PMUY, Parivahan, PMAGY, PMEGP, CSC, PMGDISHA, Khelo India, CSS, SAMARTH, e SHRAM Portal, etc.
Reviewing the progress of the initiatives, Dr Bimol accentuated the significance of organising DISHA meetings on a quarterly basis.
He noted that these meetings had not been conducted properly in the financial years 2024 and 2025, and in an effort to restore regularity, at least one session was scheduled before the close of the current financial year.
He further emphasised that DISHA serves two key purposes: facilitating stock trading and enhancing coordination among various government departments in Manipur.
He further stressed that the DISHA meeting should not be mere formality but conducted at least four times every financial year.
Expressing his commitment to conducting regular DISHA review meetings, Dr Bimol highlighted the need for grassroots-level monitoring and on-site inspections to assess ground realities and enhance development efforts.
He urged all stakeholders to fulfil their responsibilities with dedication and called for greater transparency and accountability in the execution of government schemes.
He also urged all DLOs to maintain transparency and accountability in their work for the betterment of the district.
He encouraged departments to move beyond routine presentations and focus on effective implementation, ensuring that programmes interpret into tangible benefits for the people.
The MP further highlighted that the meeting placed special focus on key sectors such as health, education, infrastructure, and livelihood development, with discussions centred on improving the impact of these initiatives.
The success of government schemes depends on coordinated efforts and proactive governance, urging all officials to work with sincerity to bring meaningful change to society, he asserted.
The sessions were attended by Khundrakpam MLA Th Lokeshwar; Imphal West DC Mayanglambam Rajkumar Singh; representatives of other assembly constituencies; elected members of local bodies; nominees of DISHA committee and District Level Officers.
