Imphal, November 21 2025:
The valedictory programme of the CAU Regional Agri Fair 2025-26 was held on November 19 at the College of Agriculture, Kyrdemkulai, Meghalaya, marking the successful conclusion of the three-day event.
The programme was graced by dignitaries, including Dinesh Dattatreya Kulkarni, Organising Secretary, Bharatiya Kisan Sangh; Dr Celestine Lyndoh, MLA, Umsning, Meghalaya; Prof Nalini Prava Tripathy, Director, IIM Shillong; Dr Anupam Mishra, Vice-Chancellor, Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal; Prof Ranjit Sharma, Director, Directorate of Extension Education, CAU, Imphal; and Prof Ram Singh, Dean, College of Agriculture, Kyrdemkulai.
The programme also witnessed the presence of various Directors of CAU, Deans of constituent colleges, eminent scientists, KVK representatives, and officials from various line departments.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Anupam Mishra highlighted the importance of North East in India's agricultural ecosystem in future days, principally because of three diversities such as biodiversity, ethnic diversity, and agri-ecological diversity.
He said that the Agri-Fair has evolved as a platform where farmers, students, researchers, entrepreneurs, and policymakers came together with a shared purpose to learn, to innovate and to inspire.
He also emphasized the need to create a sustainable, inventive, climate resilient and inclusive agriculture ecosystem that guarantees farmers income, food and nutritional security for all.
"North East is blessed with fertile soil, favourable climate but the farmers end up at the lower end of the value chain with weak market linkage", said Prof Nalini Prava while highlighting the need for Institutional linkage, food processing clusters and cold storage facilities in order to meet the demands of market linkage.
Notably, the fair featured 74 stalls set up by FPOs, entrepreneurs, and Agri-start-ups from across the North East, 8 live demonstration platforms, and 10 food stalls showcasing local cuisines.
The event attracted participation from around 1,600 farmers and stakeholders.
