Tamenglong, January 17 2010: The most essential for human life is being neglected by the people living here at Tamenglong District HQs and as well as the government officials particularly the PHED department under which the general publics get drinking water for daily consumption.

Some people carelessly continued to dirtying the only pool that supply drinking water to the district HQs areas by washing vehicles and cloths, taking baths, throwing wastes and other unpleasant things inside the pool water.

PHED Tamenglong had constructed one pool under NLCPR funds to provide drinking water to the district populaces.

The district officials including the local MLA and ZSUTD had inspected the pool areas to maintain neat and clean.

However, there were no changes till today.

When Hueiyen Lanpao visited the water pool today, it is pitiable to show that some people came to take a bath, came to wash their cloths and vehicles in front this reporter.

It is also pitiable that some toilets are still seen, many wastes have been continued to throw inside the fencing and the water out let on the western side drainage was still same and the mudslide blocking the drainage added last year.

With all these the pool water was dirtying.

It is also seen that some kitchen gardens was own just above the pool by privates individuals.

The water has been pumped up every day atleast 4000- 5000 litres during the power available day and night time by one chowkidar who never get his wages.

And pool water was decrease by 6.5 inches from the normal water mark.

The chowkidar was identified as Kameidun 40 son of Pousinrei was engage as chowkidar since 2004 but never been paid by the government.

However, he got 50 kg of rice last year.

He patiently obey what the AE/EE or the staffs to keep the guarding the pool and cleaning the campus.

He had tried to plants some banana, flowers and other plants near the pool but the local cows mercilessly eaten up, said Kameidun.

"I was threaten to beat me at night when I tried to stop the people washing vehicles, cloths or taking bath", he said.

In the meantime, while briefing the media person today, Joseph Daimei, former Coordinator ZSUTD said that water scarcity continued even after spending huge amount of money under NLCPR by PHED department.

Amidst the rapid growth of population in the district, the district administrations, including DC, SDO, PHED dept and forest department never works sincerely to check water scarcity in the district, he observed.

The general public was severely facing untold suffering of water scarcity during the dried seasons for the period of November to May every year, he said.

According to him, huge money under NLCPR, BRGF, NREGS and other funds have been sanctions but works are not properly implemented, he observed.

He even questioned the district representatives of the people are too busy to look into the needs of the people living here at Tamenglong district HQs.

Meanwhile on visiting the water supplier at the IB Bazaar, it is visible that the iron water reservoir was too old that it is seen swelling out and water is enormously leaking.

This water reservoir contains some 5000 gallons and it is the main water supply to the main bazaar of Tamenglong District HQ.

It is also visible that more water reservoir was needed for the main bazaar areas.

The people from every corners also encroaching the land of the PHED department.
