Quiz competition on legal rights held at Ukhrul

Ukhrul, August 13 2018:
The Ukhrul District legal services authority (UDLSA) has organized Independence Day inter-schooi quiz competition on 'know your legal rights and duties' for the students of Ukhrul district at TTA Hall, Hamkilkhong Ukhrul.
Students from 10 schools of Ukhrul town participated in the quiz competition which was sponsored by Manipur State Legal Service authority.
Earlier, before the competition has started, a legal awareness programme was held for the participating students while RK Memcha Devi member secretary Manipur State Legal Service Authority (MASLSA) enlightened the students about the legal rights and the fundamental duties of citizens.
She also said that the constitution of India reserve special protection rights for children and women, however violation of rights of others is against the law while adding that the students should refrain from illegal activities such as uploading obscene pictures or offensive messages in the social networking site or any information that can disturb communal harmony as they are punishable under IT law.
While dwelling on the importance of participation in the competition RK Memcha said winning or losing prize does not matter prizes but it will help you to acquire the legal knowledge from the early stage of your education.
Chairman Rajnikanta Singh, UDLSA also Chief Judge of District Session Court, Ukhrul expressed that the main objective of organizing the quiz competition for the student is to instill the legal concept and make them aware of laws from school days.
In the quiz competition which was held based on aspects of fundamental rights, fundamental duties, modern India and current affairs, Ukhrul Public School bagged the first prize while Little Angel English School secured the second position and Oriental Naga Academy finished at third position.
Consolation prizes were also distributed to Savio High School and Sacred Hr Sec School.
The programme was also attended by Alex Muivah CJM, Vaneshwani, Vakham Zimik, Para Legal volunteers and students from different school of Ukhrul town.
