NE Dance & Music Fest wraps up

The five days North East Dance and Music Festival organised by the Rhythms of Manipur concluded today with an impressive folk music performance by Thongam Loijingkhombi and her party.
The festival was conducted with financial support of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
Ningthoujam Munish, Regional Director North East, Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) Guwahati and Shillong, Ministry of External Affairs graced the closing day of the festival as the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Munish praised the achievements of Rhythms of Manipur in the field of music during the last few decades.
"The Rhythms of Manipur is truly now cultural ambassador of Manipur and India", he added.
As concluding performance, Loijingkhombi and her party backed by the musicians of the Rhythms of Manipur rendered two folk songs (Khunung Eshei) namely "Yaipal Seithaba" and "Lashing Lei Seitha", both composed by renowned folk singer and composer Thongam Gotshe Meitei.
The five days festival featured Sattriya Dance performance by Usha Rani Baishya from Guwahati, Assam; Langden Drum performance by junior drummers of the Rhythms of Manipur; Kartal Cholom by Shri Hari Nata Sankirtana Academy; Pena Eshei by Yeningkol Seidam Shang; Manipuri folk dance by Lianda Folk and Classical Academy; Dhol Dholok Cholom by Guru Kulla Cultural Academy; Fusion music by the Rhythms of Manipur and Tangkhul folk music by Guru Rewben Mashangva.
