Govindas vows open gym in every village

Bishnupur, March 27 2025: Bishnupur MLA Govindas Konthoujam has announced establishment of open gyms in every village under Bishnupur assembly constituency.

Speaking at the inauguration of playground of Sports and Library Organisation (SLO) on Thursday, Govindas informed that development of the playground was funded by K Gonendro Trust and I Leibaklei of Bishnupur Ward No.9 .

He said the playground came into existence after the Trust formed in his father's name purchase one 'Sangam' of agricultural land to expand the land donated by I Leibaklei in 1996 .

Govindas also maintained that since election as an MLA for the first time in 1995 he has been developing grounds and ponds in every village, including at Toupokpi and Thinungei, along with announcing that another ground project at Upokpi would be dedicated to the people within three month.

Referring to wushu player Naorem Roshibina, who won Arjuna Award and was recently appointed as DSP (sports), he appealed to the public to support sportspersons excel in their chosen field and promote a healthy society.

The programme was also attended by Bishnupur SP Ksh Ravikumar; SLO president Kh Sunil and Bishnupur Akoiba Apunba Lup president L Devchand Singh as presidium members.

In connection with the inauguration, a football exhibition match was played between Mamithawan (Filmstar) and SLO, Bishnupur.

The event concluded with the final of the 1st 9-A-Side State Level Football Tournament between Abem Bishnupur and Kenedy FC Bishnupur.
