Imphal, October 24 2025:
The Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) has warmly welcomed the recent statement made by NSCN General Secretary, Th Muivah, during his Homecoming Programme held at Ukhrul District Headquarters on October 22 .
Addressing the gathering, Muivah acknowledged that the Naga nationalist movement was not initiated by the Tangkhul community but by the Zeliangrong people under the visionary leadership of Haipou Jadonang, followed by AZ Phizo and other Naga patriots.
The ZUF described Muivah's statement as "unequivocal" and a "landmark testimony," marking a significant turning point in the collective journey of the Naga people and other indigenous communities in their pursuit of self-determination, truth, and justice.
Quoting the Bible verse John 8:32, "And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free," the ZUF expressed sincere prayers for the realization of the Nagas' long-cherished dream of self-determination and justice.
While appreciating the evolving developments, the ZUF also commended the NSCN leadership for their unwavering dedication in carrying forward the unfinished revolutionary struggle initiated by early patriots.
The organization highlighted several historic achievements of the NSCN, including i) gaining membership to the Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization (UNPO) in January 1993, ii) the signing of the Ceasefire Agreement with the Government of India on July 25, 1997, based on three key conditions unconditional peace talks, high-level discussions, and holding talks outside India, iii) The Joint Communique of Amsterdam on July 11, 2002, recognizing the unique history and situation of the Nagas, and iv) the Framework Agreement of August 3, 2015, which introduced the concept of shared sovereignty between the Government of India and the NSCN.
The ZUF noted that these milestones were achieved through persistent efforts and the visionary leadership of Naga stalwarts such as late Isak Chishi Swu, late Khodao Yanthan, and Th Muivah.
The organization also appreciated the ongoing initiatives of the Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) in fostering unity among all Naga Political Groups (NPGs) .
Reaffirming its position, the ZUF reiterated that the Zeliangrong Movement for Homeland is not in opposition to the larger Naga national movement Rather, it reflects the genuine aspiration of the Zeliangrong people to live together under one administrative roof, either within India or as part of the proposed Naga nation.
The organization emphasized that mutual respect cooperation, and understanding among all indigenous groups are crucial for realizing the shared goals of peace, unity, and self-determination in the North East region.
