Patriots' Day observed in different districts

As observed all over the state, Patriot's Day was observed in Chandel District Head Quarter today at the DRD A conference Hall, DC complex, Chandel while Deputy Commissioner, Krishna Kumar, CO 8th Manipur Rifles, S Somorjit Singh and CEO, ADC Chandel, DY Julie Anal graced the function.
The function was started by offering a floral tribute to Bir Tikendrajit and Thangal General.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner, Krishna Kumar said that sacrificing one's life for the sake of one's motherland is the ultimate sacrifice one can make and added that we should remember the supreme sacrifices made by our forefathers by working towards a peaceful, developed and prosperous state.
SDOs, SDCs, DLOs and officials from different departments of the district also participated in the function.
Meanwhile, the Patriots' Day Celebration was also observed at the Conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner, Kangpokpi.
The function was presided by ADC/ADM Kangopkpi, Joel G Haokip while SDOs, SDCs, DLO and staffs of DC office attended the function.
Floral tribute was given to the sons of Manipur who made supreme and selfless sacrifice for the cause of their motherland against the mighty British.
Speaking at the occasion, Joel Haokip stated that the patriotic spirit and courage of Manipuris is a unique example for the entire country.
He continued that the people should stand for a united Manipur and should protect the integrity of the State.
Later, a full dress rehearsal for the 72nd Independence Day Celebration was organized at the DC Office Complex while different troupes which came with full preparation took part in the rehearsal.
In Thoubal, the Patriots' Day was observed at the counting hall of the Deputy Commissioner, Thoubal.
The function was attended by Deputy Commissioner Thoubal Haobam Rosita (IAS), SP Thoubal S Gautam Singh (IPS), L Radhakanta Singh ADM Thoubal and Zilla parishad Hasina Begum Thoubal as dignitaries while SDOs, SDCs, Addl SPs, SDPO, OCs, DLOs and staffs of DC, Thoubal attended the function.
In her speech, Deputy Commissioner H Rosita said it was due to our disunity and disbelief among us that led to the foreign invasion.
She appealed to all to maintain discipline and co-ordination for a peaceful and developed society.
Earlier, floral tributes were offered to the brave heart of Manipur Bir Tikendrajit and Thangal General while prayers of different communities were also held.
Besides, BJP Thoubal district also organised 127th Patriots' day at its office near Thoubal police station.
The function was attended by BJP Manipur Pradesh State secretary Tejkumar, BJP Thoubal district president L Deven, office bearers and party workers of BJP to show their respect to the leaders.
The 127th Patriots' Day celebration was also observed by Khangobok BJP Mandal at M/s Sorojini Filling Station, Khangabok.
The function was attended by former BJP Manipur Pradesh vice-president Thokchom Jadumani, BJP Khangabok Mandal president L Tomba Khuman, vice-president L Chonjon, BJP Khangabok Mandal member Minority Morcha Md Ahamed and BJP Khangabok Mandal polling station 35/32 booth president Md Gaffar as presidium members.
As a part of the Patriots' day, All Manipur Youth Protection Committee (AMYPCO) organised district level painting competition for students.
The painting competition was held on the theme "For the encouragement of patriotic youths" which saw participation from around 400 students.
Meawhile, Tekcham Sports and Cultural Organisation (TISCO), Tekcham Laibung also organised 34th State level Annual Literary Meet 2018 for high school students as a part of Patriots' Day celebration.
The function was attended by pradhan Sapam Rameshwor Singh, Zilla parishad Soibam Ibetombi Devi, pradhan Naorem Pradip Singh and Up-pradhan Waikhom Samananda Singh as dignitaries.
In Bishnupur district, under the joint sponsorship of Lions Club of Nambol and Lions Club of Oinam, Lions Club International District-322D, the Oinam High School organized "Patriots' Day" at its School.
The function was attended by L Manglem Singh, president Lions Club of Nambol, RK Sanahanbi Devi, Headmistress Oinam High School, I Jugeshwor Singh, president Lions Club of Oinam and O Thakurchandra Singh, Councillor ward no 3 Oinam Municipal Council as dignitaries.
During the function, recitation and patriotic song performances were presented by the students of the School while Dr P Sanajaoba and S Trilok Singh spoke on the importance of Patriots' Day.
The 127th Patriots' Day was also observed at Panchayat Resource Hall of Mini Secretariat at Bishnupur district.
The event was attended by Oinam AC MLA, chairman MPCB & KVIB, L Radhakishore Singh, Bishnupur DC, Pawan Yadav, chairperson of Bishnupur Municipal Council, L Maniyaima and DLOs.
In Jiribam, Pari Puri Athouba Ningshing Lup (PPANL), Jiribam organised 127th Patriots' day celebration at Ancestral Heroes Memorial Complex, Ningshingkhun Bio-diversity Park, Jiribam.
Janaki Devi, Zilla parishad Jiribam, Dr Arunkumar Mangang, Chairman PPANL and Th Bhogen Singh, Dy Director Directorate of Environment Manipur Govt attended the function as presidium members.
A painting competition was also held as a part of the celebration where Hijam Anandini Chanu, Class X Highway English School secured the first position while Ayekpam Premananda Singh, Class VI bagged the second position.
K Roshni Luwang, Jiri Public English settled at third position.
SMART Society, Jiribam unit and NEIDP also jointly organised the 127th Patriots' Day observance at the conference hall of NEIDP today.
The event was graced by president of NEIDP, Kh Haridash Singh, president of SMART Society, Jiribam unit, Abdus Salam and Pradhan of Dibong Gram Panchayat, RK Nobinsana vice-president of NEIDP, Hmanga Hmar as dignitaries.
A press release issued by F Ahmed Sajabam, vice president, NEIDP, Jiribam unit conveyed that raw material needed for weaving including threads were distributed to nearly 300 weavers under the supervision of SMART Society as a part of the observance.
The statement added that about 500 ducks have also been domesticated at the duckery farm of Yairolpokpi as a part of the project taken up by SMART Society, Jiribam and added that they are further planning to establish some tailoring, weaving and embroidery training cum production centre at Jiribam district.
The statement also added that an ambulance service will also be initiated at the earliest for the convenience of the public and informed that SMART Society has sent about 30 unemployed individuals to participate in skill development training programmes at Guwahati and Imphal till date.
In Imphal East, Khundrakpam Kendra Youths Organisation (KHUKYO) too organised Patriots' Day at its office at Yumnam Khunou.
The function was presided by Leisangthem Sanjit president KHUKYO while floral tribute were offered to the unsung heroes of Manipur who have sacrificed their life to save their motherland.
