NNN, NIMPAL honour mothers, flag social issues on Foundation Day

Two women's organisations observed their Foundation Days in Imphal on Sunday, with programmes linked to International Mother's Day to honour mothers and highlight women's roles in society.
NNN marks 8th Foundation Day
Nupina Nupigidamak (NNN), a collective of women professionals, marked its 8th Foundation Day at the National Research Centre Hall, Canchipur.
The event was attended by several women leaders, including All Manipur Social Reformation & Development Nupi Samaj president Thokchom Ramani Leima, Apunba Manipur Kanba Ima Lup (AMKIL) president Lourembam Nganbi Leima, Women Association for Socio-Economic Development (WASDEV) president RK Tharaksana, Iramdam Kanba Apun Lup (IKAL) president Naorem Memma Leima, and Chingtam United Women Association's Maibam Purnimashi Leima.
As a mark of respect, NNN presented traditional hand-woven Eyonggi Phi to the women leaders present.
NNN founder president Kshetrimayum Babylee traced the group's journey.
"It began as a WhatsApp community to bring together women from different sectors, including doctors, engineers, teachers and entrepreneurs", she said.
She said that the group promotes self-reliance while supporting those who are less fortunate or struggling.
Babylee said NNN members remain active on State issues despite professional commitments.
Marking Mother's Day, Babylee called a mother's role irreplaceable, describing her as the "true face of sacrifice" who raises children to be self-sufficient citizens.
Advocate Thokchom Premlata gave a talk on "Women and Law" while Assistant Professor, Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, RIMS, Dr Salam Sushila spoke on "A Healthy Woman, A Healthy Society: Why Self-Care is Not Selfish" and Women Police Station Imphal East, SI, RK Babina elaborated on "Women and Police Protection" .
NIMPAL observes 12th Foundation Day
Nongchup Imphal Palem Ima Apunba Lup (NIMPAL) observed its 12th Foundation Day at Uripok Machin Khwai Brahmapur Community Hall.
Mothers were honoured with gifts, and floral tributes were paid to deceased NIMPAL members.
The event was graced by dignitaries, including COCOMI convenor YK Dhiren, NIMPAL president Th Ibeyaima, All Manipur Women Social Reformation & Development Samaj president Th Ramani.
AMKIL advisor Kh Anandi, AMKIL president L Nganbi, Nongpok Leingak Apunba Nupi Lup president Y Memma, Tammi-Chingmi president W Momon, ANUL president L Premo, Thoubal Ima president Kh Memma, Leimakol president MC Rita and Ichan president T Premita.
NIMPAL general secretary S Shanti said the organisation has worked for the people for 12 years.
"NIMPAL has been able to work with public support.
We seek continued support in future", she said.
Referring to the violence in Manipur since May 3, 2023, she said people are suffering and the economy has been badly hit.
She said the Government of India and the State Government have not made efforts to end the crisis.
"Instead of ending the conflict, evicting and resettling victims is very unfortunate.
To overcome the situation, mothers of the State should unite and work together", she added.
