UDYAM registration drive launched in Ukhrul

A weeklong UDYAM registration drive for Ukhrul and Kamjong districts was officially launched on Monday by Deputy Commissionerof Ukhrul.
Ashish Das, at the DRDA Conference Hall, Hamleikhong, Ukhrul.
The programme is aimed at supporting and encouraging Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to register under the government initiative.
Speaking at the launch, DC Ashish Das described the registration drive as part of an ambitious government programme to empower local entrepreneurs and build a sustainable economy.
He urged participants to become role models in society by upgrading their enterprises through UDYAM registration.
The General Manager of the District Industries Centre (DIC), Ukhrul, Themreiyo T Awungshi, highlighted the benefits of registration, which include access to government facilities, schemes, and loans from financial institutions.
He explained that the initiative is being implemented trader the Rising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP), a central scheme of the Ministry of MSME supported by the World Bankhat UDYAM, and is a formalised document which serves as a business identity proof.
He further informed that UDYAM-registered enterprises are eligible for preferences in government procurement, including price advantages and exemptions from Earnest Money Deposits (EMD).
Resource persons, Lily Rose Jajo, Director UDCRMS, Ukhrul and TS John Monsang, Chief Manager SBI, Ukhrul stressed the importance of UDYAM registration in enhancing credibility, trustworthiness, and access to financial and institutional support.
They stated that through UDYAM registration, recognition certificates and unique numbers are provided by the Government.
The weeklong drive will be conducted across all block headquarters of Ukhrul and Kamjong districts, including Chingai, Jessami, LM Block, Kamjong, Phungyar, Sahamphung, and will conclude on September 16 at Kasom Khullen, Kamjong.
Authorities have set a target to register 11,760 MSME's across the two districts.
As part of the UDYAM drive, awareness campaigns were also held.
More than 200 applicants registered on the first day of the programme.
The event was attended by SDO Ukhrul, Dinringam Kamei, and Rev Fr Michael Kochuparambil, who served as presidium members.
The registration drive is being organised by the General Manager, District Industries Centre, Manipur.
