Imphal, May 30 2016 :
The inclusion of Diploma in Elementary Edu-
cation and BEd qualifications as mandatory
criteria for TET exam and recruitment to post of
SSA and RMSA teachers have not gone down
well with aspiring candidates especially tribal
students of hill areas, asserted KSO, ANSAM
in a joint statement.
Almost all the tribal students who went to
collect application form had to return empty-
handed as they did not possess these
qualifications.
Dearth of candidates among
tribal students who could fulfil the requisite
qualifications is due to the fact that there is
virtually no institution in the hill areas where
the students can pursue Diploma in Elemen-
tary Education and BEd courses, the
statement said.
The DIET Centre in hill areas only cater
to the needs of in-service teachers and as
such there are few tribal students with
D.El.Ed qualification.
It is to be noted that
tribal student bodies have been demanding
establishment BEd colleges in the hill dis-
tricts.
The statement then urged the State
Government to declare one-time relaxation
on these criteria so that maximum number of students are
given the opportunity to appear for TET exam.
