Constitution Day (Samvidhan Diwas) was observed across Manipur today in remembrance of the historic adoption of the Indian Constitution by the Constituent Assembly on November 26, 1949.Government departments, educational institutions and local bodies organised mass Preamble readings and awareness programmes to commemorate the occasion.
CHURACHANDPUR
Marking the 75 th anniversary of the adoption of the Indian Constitution, District Level Officers (DLOs) gathered at the Mini Secretariat in Tuibong to observe Constitution Day under the theme 'Hamara Samvidhan, Hamara Swabhiman'.
The event, organised by the District Administration, Churachandpur, began with a collective reading of the Preamble followed by a pledge-taking ceremony led by Additional Deputy Commissioner Lalrobul Fimate.
Parallel events were held at Sub-Divisional Headquarters, where Sub-Divisional Officers conducted similar readings in the presence of village chiefs and local residents.
The District Mission Management Units (DMMU) of Churachandpur and Pherzawl districts under the Manipur State Rural Livelihood Mission (MSRLM) also joined the commemorative efforts, organising pledge ceremonies at the DMMU office in Churachandpur and at respective Block headquarters in both the districts.
PHERZAWL
Samvidhan Divas was observed across Pherzawl through a series of coordinated programmes aimed at strengthening civic awareness and reinforcing the importance of India's constitutional values.
The commemorative event, held at the Deputy Commissioner's Conference Hall, brought together officials and staff from various departments.
Deputy Commissioner Mannuamching administered the collective Preamble reading.
In her remarks, Mannuamching highlighted the distinctive features of the Constitution and acknowledged the contributions of the Constituent Assembly, particularly the significant role played by its women members.
Simultaneous Preamble readings were organised in all sub-divisional headquarters, drawing participation from village authorities and residents.
Educational institutions conducted special assemblies dedicated to the Constitution.
Teachers led discussions on fundamental rights and duties, the structure of government, and the historical context of the Constitution's adoption aiming to help students understand beyond their regular curriculum.
KANGPOKPI
The District Administration, Kangpokpi, joined the Nation in celebrating Samvidhan Diwas at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner, Kangpokpi.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner, Mahesh Chaudhari, appreciated all officials for attending the event and marking this auspicious day.
He highlighted that various departments - including Education, PHED, Social Welfare and others - are continuously contributing to development works in alignment with the Constitution, often without even realising it.
He further emphasized that the Constitution reminds us of Gandhi's Talisman, encouraging every official to think of the last person in society while taking decisions, ensuring that the ideals of Liberty, Equality and Justice prevail.
A collective reading of the Preamble was also conducted in the presence of the Deputy Commissioner, along with all SDOs and DLOs.
The programme was attended by N Shokhongam Baite, ADC; Lamminlal Simte, AC to DC, SDO Champhai; SDOs, DLOs, among others.
THOUBAL
Constitution Day, also known as Samvidhan Diwas, was observed today by the District Administration Thoubal at the Conference Hall of the DC Office, Thoubal.
Deputy Commissioner Hannah Kahmei led the programme with a collective reading of the Preamble, joined by the staff of the DC Office, DRDA, Election Office and NIC.
Similar Preamble-reading sessions were also organised in various educational institutions and government offices across the district.
KAKCHING
The District Administration Kakching today joined the nation in observing the Constitution Day or Samvidhan Diwas at the DC Conference Hall, Mini Secretariat, Kakching District.
Additional Deputy Commissioner P Shantikumar Singh led the preamble reading which was participated by AC to DCs, SDO Kakching, SDCs, representatives of various departments and staffs of DC Office.
The day was also observed at Government offices, including District Mission Management Unit, Kakching of Manipur State Rural Livelihoods Mission; EE Kakching Division of PWD; Langmeidong CD Block; District Social Welfare Office, Kakching; District Co-Operative Office, Kakching; Fishery Office, Kakching, Kakching Municipal Council Office and District Agriculture Office, Kakching.
The Constitution Day or Samvidhan Diwas was also observed at various schools under the supervision of the Zonal Education Office (ZEO), Kakching in the district.
Similarly, Constitution Day was also observed at District Court Complex, Kakching, organised by the Kakching District Bar Association (KDBA), Kakching; and JMFC cum CJJD Kakching.
The programme witnessed attendance from JMFC cum CJJD Kakching.
Neera Sinam; president of KDBA, N Madhu Singh; vice-president Ch Manishwar Singh, along with KDBA members and court staff.
During the event, N Madhu Singh and Neera Sinam, highlighted the significance of the constitution, followed by a deliberation on constitutional principles and their relevance in contemporary society.
BISHNUPUR
District Administration Bishnupur and all the line departments of the district today joined the nationwide observance of Constitution Day, also known as Samvidhan Divas, commemorating the 75th year of the adoption of the Constitution of India.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Bishnupur, Toijam Opendro, led the officers and staff of the district administration in reading out the Preamble to the Constitution at the Conference Hall of the Mini Secretariat Complex, Bishnupur.
AC to DC, S Gunamani, and other officials were also present and participated in the reading.
Various line departments across Bishnupur district also conducted Preamble-reading sessions from their respective offices, contributing to the spirit of unity and constitutional awareness.
CHANDEL
Constitution Day (Samvidhan Diwas) was also observed today at DFO Office in Chandel, organised by the Chandel Forest Division with participation from local leaders, villagers and staff of the Forest Department.
Speaking at the occasion , DFO Chandel, Dr N Munal Meitei highlighted that India, as one of the world's largest democracies, stands united because of the Constitution.
He emphasised Article 51A(g), which places a fundamental duty on every citizen to protect and improve the natural environment, including forests, lakes, rivers, and wildlife.
Dr Meitei urged collective action to safeguard nature and foster a positive path for environmental protection.
