Faculty development programme on "GIS & Remote Sensing" concludes

Imphal, July 25 2025:
The two-week faculty development programme (FDP) and workshop on "GIS & Remote Sensing", organised by Manipur Technical University (MTU), concluded today at the varsity in Imphal.
The programme witnessed the active participation of 37 faculty members and students from various colleges and universities across Manipur and outside the State.
As per a release issued by MTU, the participants were divided into 10 inter-disciplinary groups, each assigned a five-day hands-on, project-based assignment focused on real-world applications in areas such as urban and regional planning, water resources, forestry and ecology, disaster management, and agriculture & soil science.
The project work was evaluated through online presentations in the presence of Dr Rajendra Jena, Chief Geomatic Officer; and Sattyam Tripathim Geomatic Officer, both from the North East Centre for Technology Application and Reach (NECTAR), Shillong, an autonomous society under the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India.
The evaluators appreciated the innovative solutions and team efforts demonstrated by the participants.
The valedictory function was graced by Prof Wahengbam Jyotirmoy Singh, Controller of Examinations, MTU, who distributed certificates to all participants and congratulated them for their successful completion of the training.
The workshop sessions were led by a team of experts from NECTAR, including Dr Rajendra Jena, Sattyam Tripathi, Roshni Rai (Project Assistant), and Nikita Gogoi (Project Fellow).
Convenor of the programme, Dr Meinam Annebushan Singh, and coconvenor, Dr Khagokpam Gopal Krishna Singh were also present at the event.
