Justice Committee pays tribute to Anglo-Manipuri War heroes

Justice Committee of Anglo-Manipuri War, 1891 paid fitting tributes to the brave heroes of Manipur in commemoration of the Anglo-Manipuri War, 1891 held today at Tengol Lampak Community Hall, Khongjom.
The ceremony honours the brave heroes of Manipur who laid down their lives fighting for the motherland against the mighty Britishers during the Anglo-Manipuri War of 1891 .
As part of the event, five eminent personalities from the field of journalism, and education were also recognised and honoured for their significant contributions to the society.
Speaking at the event, Justice Committee chairman, Joykumar stated that the disunity among the people's representatives has led the State to be run and administered by the Centre and therefore urged the people to choose leaders carefully who truly cares for the people during the next general election.
Stating that the ceremony was organised to honour those heroes who stood valiantly for the motherland, Joykumar said that the Anglo-Manipuri War of 1891 was not just a military battle but to give a stem message to the world that Manipur never wanted to be under the control of anyone.
"Even in the face of certain defeat, our forefathers fought valiantly against the mighty British who had a large number of armies and with their military might," said Joykumar.
He stated that the ceremony was organised to acknowledge the brave Manipuri warrior who resisted boldly against the Tamu column, which is also known as one of the greatest battles in the British war record.
