Sensitization programme on "Sexual harassment at workplace" held

Imphal, April 24 2025:
A 1-Day Sensitization Programme on "Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013" was held today at the Conference Hall of College of Food Technology, Central Agricultural University (CAU), Lamphelpat, Imphal.
The programme was jointly organised by the Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW) and College of Food Technology, CAU, Imphal.
The programme was graced by dignitaries, including MSCW Chairperson, Thumlip Tiningpham Monsang; MSCW Member Secretary, W Phajatombi Devi; MSCW Members, Lourembam Dayabati Devi, SK Sophia Moyon and T Chongsin Koireng; and Prof Ng Joykumar Singh, College of Food Technology, CAU, Imphal.
Speaking on the occasion, Thumlip Tiningpham Monsang said that women have always played a vital role in shaping the society both in visible leadership and behind the scenes, keeping the communities strong and concerned.
"As women, we should know our rights.
Knowing our rights is the first step towards empowerment.
As women, we must be aware of the laws and protections that exist to ensure our dignity, safety and equality in society", she added.
Pointing out that every workplace and institution must have an Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), she encouraged women to report to the committee if they are facing any issues related with sexual harassment at workplace.
"Understanding and addressing sexual harassment in the workplace is crucial for creating a safe environment for women and girls", added Thumlip Tiningpham Monsang.
In the technical session, Thiyam Rajkishore, Advocate delivered a talk on "Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013" .
An interaction session between the resource person and participants was also conducted.
