International conference on literature and culture concludes at DBC Maram

A two-day International Conference on Literature, Language, Cultural and Teaching Skills successfully concluded on Friday at Don Bosco College, (Autonomous) Maram.
The event which began from August 21, 2025 was organised by the PG and UG Department of English under the guidance of Dr Widinbou, the conference convenor.
The inaugural ceremony featured Tamei AC MLA Awangbou Newmai, former Minister of Water Resources and Relief & Disaster Management, Govt of Manipur as chief guest.
The event commenced with invocation prayer led by Rector Fr Palatty Devasty SDB.
Students of the BA 3rd semester students from the Department of English presented a welcome song, lending a special and meaningful touch to the event.
Rev Fr (Dr) KO Sebestian, principal of the College, delivered a special address along with the keynote address.
Key speakers during the conference include Prof Athungo from Nagaland University, Prof Linda Konnarth from the University of Bem, Switzerland, and Christian Aung, Technology Officer at the United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia, along with Assistant Professors and Professors from various colleges and universities.
The inaugural session was enhanced by a cultural performance by the 7th semester students of the English Department.
MLA Awangbow expressed his affection for the students, referring to them as friends, which reflected a glimpse of Don Bosco College.
Prof Athungo Ovung presented a keynote speech titled "A Sociological Approach to Literature, Language, Culture and Teaching Skills: An Insight from Northeast India," which provided thought-provoking perspectives and enriched the conference with wisdom and knowledge.
Prof Christian Aung, Dr Linda Konnarth from the Institute of Linguistics at the University of Bem, Switzerland, and Christian Aung, Technology Officer at the United Board of Christian Higher Education in Asia, provided an online keynote speech.
Over 50 scholars and professors from across the globe presented their research papers.
The conference served as a platform for exchanging ideas and paving new avenues for understanding and advancement in academia and research.
The valedictory session was marked by an address from Dr Pukekho Lokho, the conference's co-convenor, followed by distribution of certificates by the Principal.
