Speaker Th Satyabrata unveils statue of Leimarembi Induprabha at Cachar

A statue dedicated to Lemarembi Induprabha (who played a pivotal role in driving out Burmese Army during Seven Years Devastation) was unveiled today at Binnakandi Pt II, Cachar district, Assam by Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker Thokchom Satyabrata.
The event held at South Barak Rural Development Agency Complex was jointly organised by Leimarembi Induprabha Statue Installation Committee and Athoubasing gee Liklam Thiba Lup.
After unveiling the statue, Speaker Th Satyabrata formally inaugurated and renamed the complex as Leimarembi Induprabha Complex.
Speaking at the event as chief guest, Speaker Th Satyabrata said that it is due to the brave heroes and heroines of Manipur that Meiteis could make a place for themselves in the world.
The sacrifice they have made to safeguard the Meitei race from extinction must be remembered and given the highest form of honour by the younger generation, said Satyabrata.
He also called for collective effort in protecting and preserving the Leingondabi Pat, a historically significant site, to help return to its original pristine form.
Notably Leimarembi Induprabha, the wife of Cachar King, Krishnachandra and the daughter of King Modhuchandra of Manipur endeavoured to build a strong and healthy bond among the Meiteis and Cacharis.
During the Seven Years Devastation, she made a significant contribution in forming Manipur Levy to drive away the Burmese Army from the soil of Manipur.
The event was also attended by Leimarembi Induprabha Statue Installation Committee, president Khaidem Kanta, Athoubasing gee Liklam Thiba Lup, president Nando Tekcham and various other eminent personalities.
Later, RK Nongdrenkhoma Meitei who donated the statue and others key persons who played a remarkable role in constructing the statue were honoured with special gifts.
A souvenir was also released during the event.
