Imphal, September 11 2025:
The Association for All NonTeaching Staff (AANTS), JNIMS and Trained Nurses Association of India (TNAI), JNIMS have threatened to launch democratic forms of protests if their grievances are not addressed within this month.
Speaking to mediapersons during a press conference held at JNIMS, Porompat today, Sandham Manohar, president, AANTS recalled that JNIMS was previously a society but according to a Cabinet decision of December 1, 2023, the State Government took over the establishment as a Government Medical College under the State Health Department.
Since then, the preparation of the Manjpur Government Employees List (MGEL) for JNIMS' staff has not been completed causing various problems to the employees.
An order issued by the State Finance Department had reportedly notified that employees cannot draw salaries without MGEL .
In light of this order, he appealed the relevant State authority to complete the MGEL process within this month while cautioning that intense agitation will be launched by JNIMS employees otherwise.
On questioning JNIMS authority about the matter, it was informed that they have taken all required steps and the necessary documents have been submitted to the Secretariat.
Urging the concerned State officials to complete the MGEL process, he further highlighted the irregular payment of wages to JNIMS employees, who have not received their salary since July.
Shedding light on yet another grievance, Yumkhaibam Sultana, publicity secretary, TNAI, JNIMS said that despite money being deducted from their salaries for the National Pension System (NPS), the same has not been updated in their accounts after February 2024.According to Sultana, JNIMS authorities are unable to produce the available balance in the NPS accounts of retired and deceased employees.
Appeals have been made in this connection to the relevant authority including the JNIMS Director, however the issue has not been addressed till date, she said.
Further stressing on the issue of their pending salary, Sultana called upon the State authority to fulfil their employee rights.
