Cumulative positivity rate crosses 8 pc, 12 die, 839 new positive cases in state

Imphal, July 08 2021: The state on Thursday recorded the highest daily positivity rate of 19.11 per cent after 50 days as government bulletins reported 839 new positive cases of Covid-19 out of 4390 samples along with 12 fatalities and 646 recoveries.

May 29 recorded the highest single day positivity rate of 20.55 per cent after which the infection rate has been declining until Thursday.

The cumulative positivity rate also crossed 8 per cent after Thursday's spike.

The active caseload too swelled to 6727 on Thursday with 2421 in home isolation and 2381 in CHICs.

As of Wednesday night, 870 patients were admitted in different hospitals and 328 of them are on oxygen support and 50 on ventilator support while 106 patients are in ICU or HDUs.

A total of 1055 patients are admitted in different CCCs and out of them 105 are on oxygen support.

So far, 45,780 positive and 867 death cases have been reported during the second wave of the pandemic.

The current month alone saw 5390 new cases and 91 fatalities while 4882 new cases and 79 fatalities were added in the last seven days.

According to official reports, the 839 new cases included 833 persons (399 males & 434 females) from among the general population and 6 personnel of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF).

Their samples were tested at RIMS (17), JNIMS (73), District Hospitals (550) and other testing Centres (199) .

The positive cases among the general population are from Imphal East (155), Imphal West (318), Thoubal (62), Bishnupur (55), Kakching (89), Ukhrul (7), Churachandpur (65), Chandel (18), Tamenglong (6), Tengnoupal (2), Pherzawl (13), Kamjong (1), Noney (1) and Kangpokpi (41) .

All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

The State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee reported 12 Covid-19 deaths (7 males & 5 females) in the last 24 hours.

The district wise fatalities are Imphal West (4), Thoubal (1), Bishnupur (2), Kakching (1), Kangpokpi (1) and Churachandpur (3).Three patients each died at RIMS, JNIMS, & DC Churachandpur and one patient each at Raj Medicity, CCC Bal Bhavan and home isolation.

The cumulative number of deaths has reached 1241.Four of the victims were in the age group of below 60 years.

Three patients died within 24 hours of arriving at hospital and one within 72 hours.

Three patients did not have any co-morbid conditions.

The 634 persons discharged in the last 24 hours were from home isolation (248), RIMS (15), JNIMS (2), CCCs (90) and CHICs (279).The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 75,180 (general population - 71,281 and CAPF personnel -3,899).Number of recovered cases is 67,212 (general population 63,423 and CAPF personnel - 3,789) and number of active cases is 6,727 (general population - 6,622 and CAPF personnel - 105).The recovery rate is 89.40 per cent.

In the last 24 hours, 1716 D-type and 477 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.

District hospitals and government institutions have 440D and 99B filled cylinders while stock distributions made in the last 24 hours include Bishnupur (106D, 2B), Chandel (33D,7B), Churachandpur (64DOB), Senapati (41D, OB), Thoubal (73D,33B), Ukhrul (27D,18B), Tamenglong (18D,0B), Jiribam (48D,13B), Kamjong (3D),2B), Kangpokpi (3D,0B), Kakching (6D,16B), Pherzawl (6D2B), Noney (2D,0B) and CCCs (328D, 1 27B) .

A record number of 30627 individuals were vaccinated on Wednesday alone, which the highest ever single day inoculation of the state.

The cumulative number of vaccinated persons has reached 7,35,610 which include 91,092 who have got their second shots.

Meanwhile, multiple hotspots have emerged in different parts of Kakching district lately.

On Thursday, 28 positive cases were detected out of 113 samples tested at Wabagai Mayai Leikai during contact tracing.

There are possibilities of the number new cases increasing in the next few days there.

Hiyanglam Awang Leikai had 17 positive cases out of 44 samples on Wednesday; 14 positive cases cropped up out of 73 samples at Hiyanglam Waikhom Leikai on Wednesday.

A total of 90 positive cases were detected out of 391 samples tested in different locations from Wednesday 2 pm till Thursday 2 pm.

On the other hand, 81 new cases out of 343 samples were detected at government RAT Centre Kakching.

Six positive cases out of 35 samples were also detected at Jivan Hospital, and three positive cases out of 13 samples at Ema Hospital, according to DSOP Kakching Dr Kesho Singh Moirangthem.

As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (26,237), Imphal East (16,571), Thoubal (6308), Churachandpur (6095), Kangpokpi (1897), Tamenglong (2186), Bishnupur (4925), Senapati (1443), Ukhrul (1526), Kakching (3914), Chandel (1267), Noney (600), Tengnoupal (825), Jiribam (782), Kamjong (454), and Pherzawl (150) .

Fatalities counts in different districts are Imphal West (435), Imphal East (320), Thoubal (118), Churachandpur (103), Kang-pokpi (33), Tamenglong (11), Bishnupur (95), Senapati (6), Ukhrul (16), Kakching (70), Chandel (18), Noney (3), Tengnoupal (6), Jiribam (4), Kamjong (3), and Pherzawl (0).However, the figure does not match with data released by CMOs of some districts.

The state health authority is not willing to provide district-specific case status despite repeated request from media.

Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 24,228 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 22,057 CPM.

Test rate has improved to 3,02,384 tests per million population against the national average of 3,05,094 TPM.

Case fatality rate stands at 1.65 per cent.

In the past 24 hours, 4390 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 19.11 per cent while the cumulative positivity rate rose to 8.01 per cent.
