UMPC calls for collective efforts to fight drug menace

The United Meitei Pangal Committee (UMPC), Manipur has called for collective efforts of all the Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and public to uproot the problems of drugs, alcohol and other toxic substances from the State.
Addressing a press conference today at Manipur Press Club, UMPC spokesperson Raees Ahamed said that the alarming issues of drugs, alcohol and other substance abuse among the people, especially the youth, can be effectively and successfully prevented if all the CSOs, Departments concerned and the public join hands to fight the menace of drugs in Manipur.
He asserted that UMPC in collaboration with law enforcement agencies will be taking strong actions against the people belonging to the Meitei Pangal communities who are involved in buying or selling drugs and other illegal activities.
He also strongly condemned the increasing accusation and public insult on the Meitei Pangal community amid the ongoing violence in Manipur.
Raees further urged all to refrain from making such statements and warned of legal actions against the people trying to ruin the bond of love & harmony among the indigenous communities of the State.
