Ningol Chakkouba celebrated widely

Ningol Chakkouba, one of the biggest festivals of Manipur was celebrated widely in the State to honour the bond between brothers and sisters.
Traditionally observed on the second day of the Manipuri lunar month of Hiyangei, the festival highlights the importance of women in Manipuri society and fosters familial ties, making it a cherished occasion for many in the region.
CCSK
The Committee of Civil Societies Kangleipak (CCSK) hosted a Ningol Chakkouba event at the Multipurpose Hall located in Nongmeibung, Imphal East district today.
Apart from Meitei women staying in relief camps, the event saw women from different communities such as Tangkhul, Maring, Thangal, Mao, Maram, Chiru, Kom & Kabui coming together to share a meal and being presented with simple gifts.
The colorful event began with a warm welcome & keynote address delivered by CCSK organising secretary Asheiba Luwang followed by a speech from CCSK president Jeetendra Ningomba.

The Manipuri diaspora in the United Kingdom and Europe gathered in a vibrant celebration of Ningol Chakkouba, an age-old tradition honouring the bond between brothers and sisters (Ningols) .
According to a release issued by European Manipuri Association (EMA), the event was held in Flaunden Village, Hertfordshire, UK on November 2, 2024, and attended by Manipuris from various ethnic backgrounds across Europe.
EMA celebrates Ningol Chakkouba every year to celebrate the community's shared heritage and reinforces the significance of unity and harmony among the people of Manipur.
The event, attended by a diverse group representing the ethnic mosaic of Manipur, included sumptuous offerings of traditional Manipuri delicacies prepared for Ningols, emphasizing the love and respect that form the essence of this unique festival.
The gathering was further enriched by various cultural performances and heartfelt renditions of patriotic songs, serving as a reminder of Manipur's history and rich cultural heritage.
In an inspiring culmination, the event closed with a resounding call for harmony, peaceful coexistence, and mutual respect among all indigenous ethnic groups from Manipur.
Ningol Chakkouba in Europe continues to stand as a vibrant expression of the Manipuri spirit, showcasing cultural pride while fostering bonds among the Manipuri diaspora living abroad.
INDIAN ARMY
On the auspicious occasion of Ningol Chakkouba, the Indian Army reached out to the Lamlai relief camp, Imphal East district, to spread warmth and support to the families in need.
In line with the festival's spirit, the Army distributed essential materials to over 70 women, that will help them to ease their daily challenges.
Traditional sweets were also shared, adding a touch of festive cheer and fostering a sense of togetherness.
According to a release issued by PIB (Defence Wing), Ningol Chakkouba celebrates family and togetherness among the Meitei community.
The event held on Sunday was attended by Lamlai AC MLA Kh Ibomcha, adding warmth to the event, making it an uplifting experience for the families, who were delighted to receive the sweets and supplies.
The initiative reflected the Indian Army' commitment to support the society and stand with those in need.
