Imphal, June 01 2026:
The Manipur Naga Youth Organisation (MNYO) and Foothills Naga Coordination Committee have reiterated their demand to the Centre and the State Government to remove Nemcha Kipgen from her posts as the Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Tribal Affairs and Hills.
In a letter addressed to the President of India, the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister, the organisations said their demand for stripping off the portfolios of Deputy Chief Minister and Tribal Affairs and Hills from Nemcha Kipgen is "legitimate" .
The organisations said the May 25 rally at Kangpokpi was staged and bogus, and it was nothing more than a "desperate attempt to shield" Nemcha Kipgen.
In the letter, the organisations accused Nemcha Kipgen of allegedly misappropriating Tribal Affairs and Hills funds.
The organisations alleged that funds have been mainly sanctioned and distributed in Kuki dominated areas only.
The MNYO and FNCC pointed out that the husband of Nemcha Kipgen, Semtinthang Kipgen alias Thangboi is the president of the Kuki National Front (Presidential).
The KNF (P) is "an active narco-Kuki terrorist faction" which has been accused of being involved in abduction of Naga civilians, they said.
"The Deputy Chief Minister has abandoned the State capital, Imphal, choosing instead to run a parallel, unconstitutional administrative office from a militant-dominated sector in Kangpokpi.
This complete breakdown of institutional protocol cannot be tolerated in a democratic framework," said the organisations.
The MNYO and the FNCC further questioned the rationale of the Government under Y Khemchand engaging in talks with Kuki-Zo Council (KZC).
During the previous Government, the KZC was not accorded official recognition, they said.
The May 31 deadline served earlier has expired without any tangible administrative action from the State Government.
Consequently, having exhausted all diplomatic and administrative avenues, the MNYO and FNCC will immediately launch a series of intense, democratic public agitations across all Naga territories, said the organisations.
In the event of any civil unrest, breakdown of law and order, or political eventuality arising from these protests, the sole and absolute accountability will rest entirely on Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen, said the MNYO and FNCC .
