Hailstorm wreaks havoc in Chandel

Chandel, April 28 2025: A sudden and strong hailstorm on Monday wreaked havoc in Anal Khullen village, under Chandel, severely damaging at least six houses.

Susa Anal, an elder of Anal Khullen village, said that the hailstorm wrecked havoc in the village and caused damage to at least six houses.

The roofs of many houses have been damaged by hailstones, he said.

Susa said those affected by the hailstorm are mostly farmers and daily wage earners who depend on agriculture for their livelihood.

The families are poor and therefore, they will not be able to repair the houses, he said, appealing to authorities concerned for assistance.

Anal Khullen is one of the oldest Anal Naga tribe villages situated about 20 Kms from the district headquarters.

The village depends on agriculture, mainly jhum cultivation, for their livelihood.

Strong hailstorms were also reported in Chakpikarong.
