Awareness programme on "Women and Law" held

Imphal, March 28 2025: A 1-Day Awareness Programme on "Women and Law" was held today at Uttarayan Theatre, Khurai Sajor Leikai, Imphal East The programme was organised by the Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW) in association with ITA Women Multipurpose Cooperative Society Ltd.

It was attended by MSCW Chairperson, Thumlip Tiningpham Monsang; MSCW Member, SK Sophia Moyon; Laishram Leikai Gram Panchayat, Chairperson, Thongam Leishemba; and ITA Women Multipurpose Cooperative Society Ltd secretary, L Bidyalaxmi as presidium members.

Speaking on the occasion, Thumlip Tiningpham said that all women should be made fully aware of all their rights and freedoms guaranteed to them by the Constitution of India.

She mentioned that out of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals furnished by the United Nations Organisation (UNO), gender equality is one of the major components.

In the technical session, Soibam Nongpoknganba Meitei and Th Rajkishore shared technical observations on the topics, "Criminal Law and Women" and "Procedural Guidelines for Enforcement of Women's Legal Rights" respectively.

Members of different SHGs, Laishram Leikai Gram Panchayat and locals also attended the awareness programme.
