Manipur marks 77th Republic Day with patriotic zeal

The 77th Republic Day of India was celebrated with enthusiasm, patriotism and community participation across the State, highlighting the spirit of unity, constitutional values and inclusive development.
BISHNUPUR
Bishnupur joins the nation in celebrating the 77th Republic Day with a grand celebration at the Mini Secretariat Complex, where Deputy Commissioner Pooja Elangbam unfurled the National flag and took the salute of 24 march past contingents comprising police personnel, IRB, CRPF, VDF, Women Home Guard, NCC, school students, district ASHA and ICDS Anganwadi workers.
The march past was led by SDPO Bishnupur S Tryphena Reihenamai.
Cultural performances by school students, CRPF, cultural troupes and the Indian Red Cross added vibrancy to the programme.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner lauded the district, police, central forces and line departments for their dedication, and highlighted initiatives undertaken for the welfare of internally displaced persons (IDPs).
Commendations were also presented to deserving individuals.
JIRIBAM
The District Administration, Jiribam celebrated India's 77th Republic Day with patriotic fervour at the Jiribam Higher Secondary School playground, marked by an impressive parade, cultural performances and the showcasing of key development initiatives.
Deputy Commissioner Krishna Kumar, graced the occasion as chief guest and unfurled the tricolour, followed by the National anthem.
He inspected the parade contingents and took the salute from 11 marching contingents commanded by Jitendra Prasad Keer, IPS (probationary).
The contingents included personnel from CRPF, Assam Rifles, Manipur Police, IRB, VDF, NCC, educational institutions and departmental tableaux.
Cultural programme and an Assam Rifles band display added colour to the celebration, while beneficiaries were provided learners' driving license and LPG connections under the Ujjwala scheme.
Appreciation certificates were awarded to 110 public servants, including police and central security personnel, along with cash awards to cultural teams.
KAMJONG
At Kamjong, the districtlevel function was organised at the Kamjong Higher Secondary School ground.
Deputy Commissioner Luckyson Ngamsha Kashung unfurled the tricolour in the presence of senior civil and police officials.
In his address, he underlined the enduring significance of the Constitution and its core ideals, stressing the need to uphold fundamental rights and duties.
Emphasising the vision of a Viksit Bharat, he said mental and educational development must precede physical infrastructure, while also acknowledging the sacrifices of the Armed Forces.
Eleven contingents, including school students and ICDS units, participated in the march past, and commendation certificates and prizes were distributed to exemplary public servants.
NONEY
Noney district celebrated the occasion at the Longmai-3 Public Ground, where Deputy Commissioner Vidyamari Sridhari, unfurled the National Flag and took the Rashtriya Salute.
More than 15 contingents took part in the march past competition, led by the parade commander S Zilangamba Thangal, SDPO Noney, followed by cultural dances, band displays and patriotic songs by Assam Rifles and CRPF.
Awards and certificates were presented to winning contingents and participants.
PHERZAWL
Pherzawl district celebrated the Republic Day at the Pherzawl Public Ground, where Deputy Commissioner Mannuamching unfurled the tricolour and took the salute from parade contingents led by SDPO Parbung Jangkholen Haokip, MPS.
In her address, Mannuamching described the Constitution as the backbone of India's democracy and urged citizens to uphold its principles to build a just, peaceful and inclusive society.
As part of the programme, certificates of appreciation were awarded to 47 individuals for outstanding service, while cultural performances showcased unity in diversity.
TENGNOUPAL
In Tengnoupal, the districtlevel function was held at the Tengnoupal High School Ground, where Deputy Commissioner Saurav Yadav unfurled the National flag and took the Rashtriya salute.
Addressing the gathering, the DC said Republic Day was not only a celebration but also a moment of remembrance and renewal of the collective promise to the nation.
He urged citizens to choose cooperation over conflict and work together to make Tengnoupal a model district of peace, security and ease of doing business.
Certificates of appreciation were distributed to government employees and police personnel for their services, while cultural performances, march pasts and welfare items distribution marked the celebration.
Meanwhile, the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), in collaboration with the Foundation of Rural Development (FORD), celebrated Republic Day at the FORD Children Home for Boys, Machi.
The programme witnessed active participation of children and staff of the Child Care Institution.
KAKCHING
The main celebration in Kakching was held at the District Sports Association (DSA) ground, Kakching Turel Wangma, where Deputy Commissioner Uppuluri Chaitanya, attended as chief guest and hoisted the National flag.
He also took the salute from 23 marching contingents commanded by SDPO Sugnu Ng Suresh Anthony, MPS, while cultural troupes presented vibrant performances showcasing the district's diversity.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted progress in the rehabilitation of internally displaced persons (IDPs), informing that over 300 families have already returned to their original localities.
He said the district administration, police and security forces are working continuously to ensure safe and inclusive rehabilitation, with government assistance and special packages being extended alongside existing welfare schemes.
KANGPOKPI
In Kangpokpi, the districtlevel celebration took place at Brigadier M Thomas Ground, where Deputy Commissioner Mahesh Chaudhari, graced the occasion as chief guest and took the salute from 24 marching contingents comprising security forces, ex-servicemen, students and volunteers.
The parade was commanded by Pavitra Goyal, IPS.
Speaking on the occasion, Chaudhari highlighted key governance and infrastructure initiatives, including the success of the AI-driven "OneTap KPI" Whatsapp chatbot providing access to over 25 essential citizen services, including health and e-district resources, which has already gained over 6,000 users.
He also spoke on urban discipline measures, progress under PM Janman, promotion of entrepreneurship schemes, waste segregation, and efforts to curb poppy cultivation through alternative livelihoods.
THOUBAL
The main district-level celebration in Thoubal, was held a the Chaoyaima Higher Secondary School Ground, where Deputy Commissioner Yumnam Robita, unfurled the tricolour and took the salute from 27 marching contingents led by parade commander Harsavarthan V, IPS (probationer).
Police personnel, NCC cadets, school students, ASHA workers, SHG members of MSRLM and cultural troupes participated in the march past.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner paid tribute to the makers of the Constitution and highlighted the district administrations' priority on the resettlement and support of IDPs, particularly women and children in relief camps, through skill development and livelihood programmes.
She outlined achievements in the health sector, including enrolment and treatment of thousands of beneficiaries under CMHT and PMJAY schemes, improved diagnostic services by ASHA workers, and steady progress in agriculture through assistance under NFSM, RADP, horticulture missions and PMKSY.
She urged collective efforts towards cleanliness, environment sustainability, digital literacy and communal harmony.
UKHRUL
In Ukhrul, the Forest Department drew wide public appreciation by showcasing images of rare and endangered species at the Republic Day gate as part of its awareness initiative.
Ukhrul Forest Division joined the celebrations with Divisional Forest Officer Gitla Laishram unfurling the National flag at the divisional office premises.
Speaking on the occasion, the DFO said that initiative aimed to spread awareness against rampant hunting and to foster harmony between humans and wildlife.
Emphasising Ukhrul's rich biodiversity, she reminded citizens of their constitutional duty under Article 51A (g) to protect and improve the natural environment.
She urged residents to act as custodians of forests and wildlife and to support sustainable development under the banner of ecological security.
SENAPATI
The main celebration at Senapati was held at Sanyl Dahrii Sports Complex, Khabung Karong, where Deputy Commissioner Mamoni Doley, unfurled the tricolour and took the salute from 16 marching contingents comprising CRPF, Manipur Police, VDF, NCC and college units.
The parade was led by Shivin, IPS (probationary).
Cultural performances by tribal troupes from Thangal, Maram, Zeliangrong, Poumai and Mao communities added vibrancy to the celebration.
Commendations and certificates were presented to government officials, police personnel and departments for their outstanding service.
CHURACHANDPUR
In Churachandpur, the 77th Republic Day was celebrated with great fervour and patriotic spirit at Public Ground, Hiangtam Lamka.
Deputy Commissioner Dharun Kumar unfurled the National flag and received the Rashtriya salute as chief guest from 31 contingents comprising the BSF, civil police, NCC cadets and school students.
Addressing the gathering, the DC reminded citizens that Republic Day signifies not only the adoption of the Constitution but also the enduring democratic spirit of the nation.
He described the tricolour as a symbol of courage, sacrifice and resilience, calling upon people to uphold freedom with responsibility.
Reflecting on the district's journey amid challenges such as social unrest, displacement and logistical constraints, the DC commended officers and staff for their professionalism, impartiality and dedication to constitutional duty.
As part of the celebrations, commendations were presented to government officials, police and security personnel, civil organisations and village authorities for their outstanding service.
Republic Day was also observed at all sub-divisional headquarters in the district.
