Cycle rally held

Thoubal, April 03 2025:
Eco Network Heirok in association with Ngarouthel Youth Team organised a cycle rally in observance of "International Zero Waste Day" today on the theme "Zero Waste in Fashion and Textile" .
The cycle rally was flagged off by Laishram Jelshyam, Assistant Professor, Thoubal College from Heirok Main gate and concluded at City Club Ground, Heirok Pt II Litan with a simple event.
Speaking at the occasion, Waikhom Anand stated that "My Waste My Responsibility" is the only solution to attain zero waste.
To attain zero waste, he emphasized the importance of starting waste segregation and setting up a Material Recovery Facility (MRF) to nurture waste entrepreneurs to achieve the goal of "Waste to Wealth".
Urging the people to be aware of 2nd hand clothing being dumped by developed countries in third world countries, he stated that textile waste is among the largest contributors of global waste.
He therefore urged the 3R solution (Reduce, Reused, Recycle) for successful implementation of waste management.
Dipjoy Mangang also encouraged the people for organic compost and vermicompost for waste reduction and to provide a source of livelihood for unemployed youths.
The event was also attended by Dipjoy Mangang, proprietor, Eikhoigi Organic, Thoiba Khumanthem, co-ordinator, Ngarouthel Youth Team, Maibam Khendu, secretary, City Club, Hijam Dinesh, secretary Heirok Development Club (HDC), Atomjit Khundongbam Waste Coordinator CityClub, Heirok, and Dr Laishram Romesh.
