Imphal, April 02 2025: The Duty Magistrate of Imphal West has today granted bail to the Facebook page administrator who was arrested on the charge of sharing fake news with communally sensitive content on social media.

Accused Seram Suraj Meetei (25) of Wangoo Terakhong Awang Leikai currently staying at Pong Lambi, Lane no 3 near JNIMS Hospital was arrested yesterday.

Suraj was produced before the Court by Porormpat police with a prayer to send him to judicial custody.

The defence counsel, on the other hand, filed a remand objection and prayer for bail.

The Court after hearing the submission of APP, defence counsel and on perusal of the case approved the bail application.

The Court, however, directed the accused to not threaten, contact or induce any prosecution witness and leave the State without taking prior permission.
