Dr Bimol Akoijam chairs DISHA committee meeting for I/W

The first round of the DISHA (District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee) meeting for Imphal West was chaired today by Dr Angomcha Bimol Akoijam, Member of Parliament for the Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency and Chairperson of the DISHA Committee, at Kombirei Hall, Imphal West DC Office Complex.
The meeting was organised by the District Administration, Imphal West to discuss the implementation of Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS) in the Imphal West district.
Reviewing the progress of these initiatives, Dr Bimol Akoijam underscored the importance of holding DISHA meetings on a quarterly basis.
He opined that the DISHA meetings serve a crucial role in facilitating stock trading and improving coordination among Government departments in Manipur.
"DISHA meetings should not become a mere formality but should be Conducted at least four times every financial year", he added.
Dr Bimol Akoijam expressed that CSS are being implemented specially for the people in order to change the health, education and other factors which could help in the betterment of the society as a whole.
He also highlighted the need for grassroots-level monitoring and on-site inspections to assess ground realities and enhance developmental efforts.
The MP urged the DLOs to maintain transparency and accountability in their work for the betterment of the district.
He encouraged departments to move beyond routine presentations and focus on effective implementation, ensuring that programs interpret into tangible benefits for the people.
Furthermore, Dr Bimol Akoijam urged all stakeholders to fulfill their responsibilities with dedication and called for greater transparency and accountability in the execution of Government schemes.
Implementing agencies of the various Government departments including Zonal Education Office, District Agriculture Office, District Horticulture Office, Manipur State Rural Livelihoods Mission, LDM, District Social Welfare Office, CEO, RED, Town Planning, Smart Cities Ltd, IMC, Minor Irrigation, Manipur Society for Skill Development presented updates on their respective centrally sponsored schemes.
The session was attended by Deputy Commissioner, Mayanglambam Rajkumar Singh; representatives of other Assembly Constituencies; elected members of local bodies; nominees of the DISHA committee and DLOs .
