MoS Bhagirath Choudhary visits Thoubal, interacts with DLOs, farmers

Imphal, April 24 2025: Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Fanners' Welfare, Bhagirath Choudhary on his visit to Manipur today visited the Deputy Commissioner's Office and Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) in Thoubal district.

Bhagirath Choudhary was warmly received at the Imphal Airport by Dr Anupam Mishra, Vice-chancellor of the Central Agriculture University, Imphal and Peter Salam, the Director of Agriculture, Manipur, said a statement issued by the Central Agricultural University.

After reaching the airport, Bhagirath Choudhary visited the Deputy Commissioner's Office, Thoubal and held an interaction programme with the District Level Officers (DLOs) of the district.

During the programme, Peter Salam highlighted the significant achievements of the Agriculture Department in the district.

Addressing the gathering, Bhagirath Choudhary emphasized the vision of developing a "Viksit" (developed) district as a foundation for building a Viksit State and ultimately a Viksit Bharat (developed Nation).

He stressed the importance of ensuring that Government schemes and benefits reach the grassroot level effectively.

Highlighting the logistical challenges faced by the State, the MoS expressed his intention to advocate for a 50% transport subsidy for agricultural products to support farmers.

He also informed the gathering that steps are being taken to address the issue of enrolling tenant farmers as beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme.

On this occasion, the MoS for Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare, Bhagirath Choudhary also officially released awareness posters on Natural Fanning, underscoring the Government's commitment to promoting sustainable agricultural practices.

Later in the day, Choudhary visited Krishi Vigyan Kendra Thoubal, where he engaged with local farmers and representatives of Farmer Producer (FPOs), appreciating their efforts and encouraging them to leverage available resources and technologies for enhanced productivity.
