Media sensitization programme on TB campaign organised

A media sensitization programme on "100 Days Intensified TB Elimination Campaign" was organised by the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP) Imphal East at DTC, Imphal East located at Porompat.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Bidyalaxmi Laishram, District TB Officer, Imphal East, informed that the 100 Days Intensified TB Elimination Campaign was officially kicked off on December 7 and concluded on March 17 recently.
Altogether 41,000 vulnerable individuals were screened during the course of the campaign and a total of 181 TB cases were detected.
In the past, there was only one testing site at JNIMS DOTS Centre (CBNAAT) .
Now, there are four sites including DTC Imphal East (Truenat), Sawombung PHC (Truenat) and Heingang PHC (Truenat), she maintained.
She added that the NTEP programme is a central health programme under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
Some of the services available at NTEP, Imphal East are providing Rs 1000 as nutritional support to TB patients through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) under the Nikshay Poshan Yojana/Nutritional Support Scheme and giving TB drugs free of cost, said the District TB Officer, Imphal East.
