Heavy security arrangements have been taken up in front of Chief Minister Bungalow, Raj Bhavan and BJP State unit head office by State police in the face of the present agitation launched by MUSU demanding the removal of AP Pandey as the Vice Chancellor of Manipur University as well as in light of the 48 hours general strike.
According to a reliable source, after the recent attempt by agitating students to storm the Chief Minister bungalow, Raj Bhavan and BJP office, many iron barricades wrapped with barb wires have been placed in front of the respective entrances along with deployment of extra security personnel in the surrounding areas.
Iron barricades have also been placed at Keishampat bridge, Moirangkhom crossing and at Lilasing khongnangkhong area to prevent any unwanted incident.
The source mentioned that police and commando personnel of other districts are also being deployed in different parts of Imphal West as a part of the security measures in connection with the ongoing 48 hours general strike.
It may be mentioned that in the last two days, numerous volunteers of DESAM have attempted to storm Raj Bhavan and CM bungalow which are one of the highest security zones in the State.
DESAM volunteers also stormed BJP head office on July 16 demanding immediate removal of Adya Prasad Pandey from his post as the VC of Manipur University and tore down the banners in front of BJP head office.
