Imphal, July 18 2018:
Naga People's Front (NPF), Manipur State Unit has stated that the party stands for peace and progress and as such supports the ongoing Indo-Naga peace talk, said a statement released by NPF.
Time and again, the party has sent its representations to the Central Government and Naga leaders for bringing an early solution to the protracted Naga issue, the statement added.
NPF lauded the present BJP led Government of Manipur for bringing lots of positive changes in the State and said that the political misunderstandings and differences between different communities had reduced considerably in the present regime.
Social gaps have been bridged to a great extent through collective effort by the coalition Government led by Chief Minister N Biren Singh, NPF maintained.
NPF, however pointed out that a permanent peace is yet to be established in the State while reminding the speech made by the NPF Legislature leader and president of the NPF MSU, Awangbow Newmai who on many occasion had mentioned that "we must welcome peace and any initiative made by the Government of India to bring peace in the region should be supported and that peace will come only when we try to understand the position of each community and respect each other." However, it is regrettable that Chief Minister led delegation sought to limit the Framework Agreement within the present Nagaland State boundary which appeared in the headline of a prominent newspaper in its July 15 edition, which has created tension among the peace loving Naga people of the State, decried NPF.
NPF reiterated that Naga people in Manipur have suffered for many decades due to the unresolved Naga political issue and maintained that the Nagas in particular and other communities in general have been given a ray of hope that they will finally live in peace after the Framework Agreement was signed between the GoI and NSCN (IM) .
NPF appealed to all leaders of the various political parties and CSOs to support its effort to bring amicable solution to the long pending Naga political issue.
