Finer points of CHAHA discussed

A State level dissemination meeting on CHAHA was held at Hotel Classic here today.
Launched by India HIV/AIDS Alliance in 2007, CHAHA, meaning a wish in Hindi, is a child-centred, community based care and support programme that aims to reduce HIV-related morbidity and mortality among children and adults and also to address the impact of HIV.
The programme is due to be closed by March 2011 .
Organised under the aegis of Social Awareness Service Organisation (SASO), the main objective of the meeting was to disseminate the key findings, lessons learnt from CHAHA and also to highlight the need for continued care and support interventions and advocate for a sustainable child-centered care and support programme within the National programme.
Programme Officer (M & E) of India HIV/AIDS Alliance Goverdhan Kummarikunta, District AIDS Control Officer of Imphal East Dr Birchandra, Chairperson of Child Welfare Committee, Imphal West Annie Mangsatabam, Director of Programme and Policy of India HIV/AIDS Alliance Sonal Mehta were among the resource persons who were present and spoke at the meeting.
