Imphal, February 13 2013:
The Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System has slammed the Government for failing to translate its assurance in implementing the ILP system in the State.
A statement issued by the convenor of JCILPS, Sapamcha Jadumani lamented that nothing has been done so far even as six months have lapsed after the State Assembly sent its resolution for the implementation of ILP to the Union Home Minister while urging the State Govt to pressurise the Centre on the matter.
The people of the State have been anxiously waiting the response of the Government following the Union Home Minister's assurance that the demand is justified during a meeting with representatives of JCILPS on November 23, 2012, the statement said.
The people of the State wanted to know whether the Central Govt and State Govt are serious to protect the indigenous people or not, the statement said while reminding the Govt to shun the habit of maintaining silence until a public agitation is launched.
