Conservator of Forest inaugurates zipline facility at Dziiduri

In an effort to boost tourism in Senapati district, Arun RS, IFS, Conservator of Forests, Northern Circle along with Shanngam S IFS, Divisional Forest Officer, SenapatiForest Division inaugurated a zipline facility at Dziiduri, Tunggam village, Paomata Block yesterday.
The inauguration was carried out in the presence of chairmen and secretaries of Tunggam villages, local leaders, youth leaders, students, women representatives, pastors, volunteers and forest officials.
At the event, the Conservator of Forests acknowledged the potential of Dziiduri to develop into one of the best eco-tourism places of Senapati due to its the terrain, tourism experiences like adventure, trail walk, clean pollution free environment and longest zip-line of Manipur and Nagaland.
Stating that natural beauty, tourists and employment for the locals are the three major backbone of ecotourism, he expressed hope that the locals in collaboration with forest department will continue to function by the principle of sustainability and ensure that the natural resources are not being destroyed.
He also assured that plans for further development of the area, focusing on water conservation as part of ecotourism will be taken up to address the issue of water scarcity in the region.
Meanwhile, president of KYSO (Khumai Youth & Student Organization) thanked the PCCF & HoFF of Manipur Anurag Bajpai for developing the vision of eco-tourism in the district.
He also thanked the department and the leaders, youths and volunteers of Tunggam villages for helping achieve their dream of developing Dziiduri into one of the model eco-tourism destinations of Manipur.
It may be mentioned that Dziiduri Highland, nestled atop Khumai (Tunggam) village in Paomata Block of Senapati district, is situated at approximately 1,960 m above sea level.
This highland offers breathtaking views of the towering presence of Mt Esii- one of the highest peaks of Manipur.
Adding to its natural wonders is the Abulya Cliff, a dramatic rock formation renowned for its stacked structure.
Perched atop the Abulya Cliff is Natousalai, a sacred site of the Poumai tribe, where women perform traditional rituals to predict their marital fate, a practice deeply woven into the region's oral traditions.
To help establish Dziiduri as a model eco-tourism destination, Manipur Forest Department in collaboration with the local stakeholders took the initiative to install a zip-lining facility in the area.
