Chief Justice led delegation reaches out to conflict survivors

Imphal, February 07 2024: As part of the ongoing voluntary initiative, a delegation led by Chief Justice of the High Court of Manipur, Siddharth Mridul visited the relief camp opened at Community Health Centre in Nongada, Imphal East district and interacted with the conflict survivors on Wednesday.

According to a release issued by Ojesh Mutum, Registrar (Judl), High Court of Manipur, the Chief Justice of the High Court of Manipur was accompanied by other Judges of the High Court namely Justice A Bimol Singh, Justice A Guneshwar Sharma, Justice Golmei Gaiphulshillu Kabui; S Brajabihari Singh, Chairman, Bar Council of Manipur; Y Nirmolchand Singh, president, High Court Bar Association of Manipur; Rother Yumnam, Registrar General, High Court of Manipur; M Devananda, Additional Advocate General, Manipur; Binny Ngangom, president, All Manipur Judicial Officers' Association; Alek Muivah, Member Secretary, Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA); Judicial officers and members of the Bar.

Chief Justice led delegation reaches out to conflict survivors

The primary purpose of this visit was to extend support and distribute relief materials to 59 families consisting of about 250 persons taking shelter in the relief camp.

To alleviate some of the challenges faced by the conflict survivors, the delegation provided essential items such as charcoal, charcoal heaters (meifhu), storage boxes, and sports items for the children.

During the visit, the delegation interacted with the inmates and emphasized the importance of communication in addressing their grievances.

The delegation urged the conflict survivors to share their concerns through the Para Legal Volunteers of the District Legal Services Authority to ensure the issues raised by them are brought to the attention of the concerned authorities for swift resolution.

Additionally, the delegation asked the Deputy Commissioner of Imphal East, Kh Diana Devi, and key Government officials, including those from the Social Welfare Department, to promptly assess and address the immediate requirements of the conflict survivors, ensuring their well-being during these challenging times.

The Chief Justice expressed heartfelt concern for the affected families and stressed the importance of collaborative efforts amongst all the stakeholders to provide timely assistance to those in need.

It may be noted that the delegation's visit exemplifies the commitment to upholding the principles of justice and ensuring the welfare of all citizens, particularly during times of crisis.

This initiative highlights the collaborative spirit between the legal fraternity and Government agencies in Manipur, working hand in hand to address the challenges faced by the community and provide relief to those affected.
