Imphal, June 06 2025: In response to the rain-battered situation in Manipur, individuals and organisations are stepping up to assist relief efforts for the people affected by the devastating flood.

CCian Group

Continuing with its humanitarian service of extending aid to flood affected people, the CCian Group (1993-97 batch) today visited more flood relief camps and donated relief materials to the flood affected people.

A team of the CCian Group led by social activist and former general secretary of CC Higher Secondary School Students' Union H Ashirjit Luwang (Boicha) has been visiting flood affected areas and relief camps since June 2, 2025 and providing relief materials.

They visited flood relief camps at Sainik School Gate, Ebudhou Pakhangba Community Hall, Houtal; Kongpal Kongkham Leikai and Khabeisoi.

They donated relief materials to the flood affected people.

CCian Group is an alumni association of CC Higher Secondary School (1993-1997 batch), and the relief materials distributed to flood affected people were funded by voluntary donations made by the members of the group.

Lions Club

In response to the devastating floods affecting various parts of Manipur, Lions Clubs of Manipur region conducted a large-scale humanitarian relief operation, demonstrating its enduring commitment to the motto "We Serve".

The relief camp covered six flood-hit localities in Imphal East- Yuvraj Palli Ucheckon, Bashikhong Meira Club, Bashikhong Torban Leikai Community Hall, Eastern Students Club Nongmeibung, SYAC Club Soibam Leikai Porompat, Kongpal Mutum Leikai Kshetrigao and Konpal Chanam Leikai.

With coordinated efforts from the local Lions Clubs, the initiative reached more than 1,800 individuals and families, providing much-needed supplies including food, drinking water, and hygiene essentials.

"Lions Club has been reaching to needy people as per our humanitarian efforts whenever such a requirement comes.

This was not just a relief mission, it was a message of Solidarity and hope", said Th Kesho Singh, DG, Lions International District 322D .

ABVP Manipur

In the wake of the recent devastating floods, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) Manipur has taken up the noble initiative of distributing essential food items to flood-affected families across various relief camps in Imphal.

The relief efforts were carried out under the banner of "Students for Seva", the service wing of ABVP.

As part of the relief campaign, ABVP karyakartas reached out to five key floodhit areas namely Wangkhei Puja Lampak Relief Camp, Kongba Bazar, Kongba Laishram Leikai, Kongba Nongdam Leikai and Uchekon area.

Each family was given essential items such as rice, pulses, potatoes, onions, salt, cooking oil, biscuits, and drinking water.

Several prominent ABVP leaders and volunteers took part in the distribution drive.

Leading the efforts were Gautam Philem, state secretary of ABVP Manipur, and Rajesh Laishram and Tompok Singh, state joint secretaries of ABVP Manipur.

Dr Indira Aribam, NEC member of ABVP, also joined the relief work on the ground.

The distribution drive was also supported by Swamidas Maimom, state convenor of Students for Seva (SFS), Daman Thokchom, district convenor of ABVP Imphal West, and Charanjit, district convenor of ABVP Thoubal.

Priyadarshini, state coordinator of SFS, along with committed volunteers such as Wilson, Borish, and Reagan, actively participated in reaching out to the flood-affected families.

VVF Moidangpok

The Village Volunteer Force (WF) unit of Moidangpok has also been reaching out to flood affected areas and rendering humanitarian service to the victims of the devastating floods.

Over the past week, the group has been actively engaged in relief, rescue, and rehabilitation activities across flood-affected areas of Imphal West and Imphal East districts.

In a coordinated endeavor with the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), the VVF successfully distributed drinking water to distraught villagers in Moidangpok Khunou and Sajirok.

With potable water becoming scarce in many low-lying regions, the timely distribution brought much-needed relief to several families grappling with water shortages.

Taking proactive measures to prevent possible damage, the volunteers of VVF Moidangpok in collaboration with VVF Kamong, carried out crucial embankment reinforcement works along riverbanks in Moidangpok, Khaidem, and Khabi on June 1.On June 3, rescue operations were conducted in Thambalkhong, Wangkhei, and Ayangpalli in coordination with VVF Moirang.

The volunteers successfully relocated five families to safer locations and managed to salvage stored rice grains from being soaked and rendered unusable.

While the volunteers continue their noble work, they have voiced deep concern over the worsening conditions, particularly in Imphal East district.

Emphasizing the dire situation in Moidangpok Khunou, Sajirok, and Khabi villages of Imphal West, the VVF has also urged the Government to urgently address the needs of the flood-affected populations.

Moreover, the CCIAN Forum (1996-98) Batch has also reached out to its alumni members who were affected by the devastating floods.

Under the motto "A friend in need is a friend indeed", executive members of the forum today provided essential items such as rice, drinking water, bleaching powder, mosquito repellent, candles, dal, edible oil, etc to about 13 alumni members.

Similarly, Kshetri Tama Devi, former Upadhakshya of Imphal East, distributed essential items to the flood affected people of Kongpal Chanam Leikai, Kongpal Naoroibam Leikai, Kongba Laishram Leikai Turel Maning/Mamang and Kongba Laishram Leikai.
