Ningol Chakkouba celebrated across State

The traditional festival of Ningol Chakkouba which commemorates the bond between married women and their paternal families was celebrated across the State yesterday.
BISHNUPUR
Celebrating the auspicious festival of Ningol Chakkouba, Moirang Assembly Constituency MLA Thongam Shanti distributed blankets to 1200 widows under 60 years of age from the AC at the MLA's Office located at Moirang Philem.
The event was graced by MLA Thongam Shanti; Y Modhu, MLA's chief advisor; S Kumar, chief advisor of MLA's Political Affairs Committee and intending candidates of Moirang Municipal Council.
Appreciating the MLA's gesture, an unnamed widow at today's event said that the gift bestowed by the MLA as an older brother to his sisters of the AC is priceless.
JIRIBAM
Jiri Development Organisation (JDO) organised Ningol Chakkouba celebration at Lamlen Community Hall cum Kangsang in Babupura yesterday.
Around 200 womenfolk of the district took part in the celebration.
Simple gifts were also presented to them on behalf of JDO.
Additionally, female scribes of Jiribam were also honoured with gifts on the occasion.
KAKCHING
The Keirak United Development Association (KUDA) organised a luncheon for the inmates of Keirak Sanatombi High School Relief Camp.
The event was organised in association with Keirak Wabagai Zilla Parishad and Keirak Gram Panchayat.
Gifts were presented to the inmates on behalf of Wabagai Zilla Parishad Administrative Committee and Keirak Gram Panchayat.
TENGNOUPAL
The District Administration, Tengnoupal organised the auspicious celebration of Ningol Chakkouba 2024 for the ningols of Kwatha and Kwatha Khunou on November 3 at Kwatha Community Hall.
The event was attended by Ejaj Hassan, SDO Moreh, Moshel Yunglama, Jr BDO Tpl, and Sukur Ali, SDC Moreh on behalf of District Administration.
The CO of 3rd Assam Rifles Shisir Pandey also attended the event.
Later, the officials presented gifts to the ningols of Kwatha.
The event ended with a lunch program with the people of Kwatha.
ASSAM RIFLES
Additionally, Assam Rifles troops also celebrated Ningol Chakkouba festival at Kwatha, Serou Relief Camp and Mission Blind School.
At Kwatha in Tengnoupal district, the Assam Rifles welcomed Meitei women adorned in their finest attire, who brought gifts symbolizing warmth and tradition.
In return, they received tokens from the Assam Rifles, embodying the deep connection between the Force and the community.
Officials from Assam Rifles also extended heartfelt greetings to the Meitei community.
The celebration at Kwatha drew participation from approximately 170 villagers, including 26 men, 118 women, and 26 children.
Simultaneously, at the Serou Relief Camp in Kakching, Assam Rifles distributed refreshments, essential items, and gifts sourced from IDP camps.
Health and hygiene support was provided through a medical camp, fogging, and DDT spraying to ensure the well-being of camp residents.
Meanwhile, at the Mission Blind School, Assam Rifles engaged with the students.
teachers and staff to understand their needs and offer ongoing assistance.
Refreshments were provided to students and nearby residents.
In collaboration with IDPs, medicines and rations were distributed to women and children at the relief camp.
The celebration concluded with a communal feast alongside the meira paibis, where special gifts were presented to the ningols.
Approximately 350 people, consisting of 70 men, 180 women, and 100 children, actively participated in the joyous occasion.
