Waree Leeba Festival concludes

The 4-day long 7th edition of Waree Leeba Cheirao Festival and Workshop cum Production on Waree Leeba Ahumphambi concluded today.
The festival cum workshop was held at Pipal Pukhuri No 1, Lanka, Assam organised jointly by Repertory of Waree Leeba Manipur and Brahmaputra Valley Branch Hojai, said a press release by Director of Repertory of Waree Leeba Manipur, Takhellambam Shyamkanhai Singh.
The valedictory function was graced by renowned Shumang Leela artiste and Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee Shougrakpam Hemanta as the chief guest; Repertory of Waree Leeba Brahmaputra Valley Branch Hojai Assam President, Kshetrimayum Bishnu Singha as the president.
Many eminent personalities of Assam also attended the valedictory function.
The dignitaries presented participation certificates to the participants of the Waree Leeba festival and workshop.
During the programme, Workshop cum Production on Waree Leeba Ahumphambi was presented under the direction of Takhellambam Shyamkanhai Singh, recipient of Ustad Bhushmillah Khan Yuva Puraskar.
Speaking at the occasion, Sougrakpam Hemanta expressed that organising Waree Leeba festivals have contributed majorly in promoting Manipuri language outside the State.
He went on to laud the remarkable contributions of Repertory of Waree Leeba Manipur in keeping alive the unique art form of narrative art 'Waree Leeba' in Manipur and beyond.
Hemanta also assured to extend best possible help from his end to organise a mega Waree Leeba festival along with Waree Leeba artistes from Assam, Tripura etc, said the press release.
