MSC/CPI highlights need to prevent fascist administration
Source: The Sangai Express

Thoubal, March 31 2024: Former State secretary of Manipur State Council Communist Party of India (MSC/CPI) L Sotinkumar has highlighted the need to oppose the BJP regime in order to prevent a fascist administration from taking over the country.

He made the remark during the 36th local conference of Thoubal Local Council CPI held at Kshetri Sanglen, Thoubal.

The conference was kicked off with L Sotinkumar hoisting the party flag.

The programme was also attended by Dr M Nara, member, CPI National Control Commission; S Sorojini Devi, executive member, MSC/CPI; Dr Ksh Manglem, retd CMO and S Meipak, member, CPI Thoubal as the presidium members.

As a part of the conference, the Council's draft report was presented accompanied by a discussion about the future undertakings of the Council in the coming year.

The gathering also observed a 2-minute silence to pay their respects to the departed members of the Council.

Six resolutions were passed during the conference, including bringing improvement to the condition of Thoubal River, strengthening the Council and collectively voting for the CPI candidate in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2024 .

Speaking on the occasion, L Sotinkumar asserted that though India is a democratic country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's actions are coloured by fascist tendencies.

Stating that people are unable to express their opinions freely, he categorically asserted that people must stand firm against the BJP regime to restore the true meaning of democracy, preserve the sanctity of the Indian Constitution and save the nation from being ruled by a fascist administration.

Separately, the 50th local conference of Heirok Local Council CPI was held today at Heirok Part (I) Heitupokpi Leikai community hall.

The conference was graced by L Sotinkumar; Heirok Local Council CPI leaders Ningthoujam Lokendro and P Lokhon and Khundongbam Maniyaima, former secretary of Heirok Local Council CPI as the presidium members.

Addressing the gathering, L Sotinkumar claimed that the territorial integrity of Manipur is close to breaking under the administration of the current dispensation.

Aside from the valley areas, Meiteis cannot safely venture out into areas such as NH-2 Kangpokpi, Jiri Road or cross over to Pallel.

Stating that the Indian Government could have resolved the crisis within a short period of time, he accused the Central Government of harbouring some hidden agenda and keeping the pot boiling.

Highlighting the large scale privatisation of Central Government institutions in the last ten years under the BJP regime, he added that the poverty-stricken populace of the country are unable to educate themselves or afford their medical needs.

In addition, he said that crores of underprivileged people cannot afford even two square meals a day.

To dismantle such a political party, he stressed on the need for other likeminded political parties to unite.

During the conference, Thokchom Mohon, secretary, Heirok Local Council CPI presented the draft report of the Council detailing the tasks undertaken and issues championed by the party in previous years as well as the efforts of the Council during the ongoing crisis.

His report pointed out that the 50th local conference of the Council was taking place at a time when democracy is slowly losing its meaning, corruption is growing at a fast pace, the dangers of drug abuse is at an all time high and a handful of wealthy individuals have brought the State's administration under their thumb.

As a part of the conference, the gathering observed a minute of silence to mourn the demise of seven Council members who passed away recently.

The seven deceased individuals are Kh Leikham and L Phullo Meitei from Heirok Part I; Kh Leimu Meitei, Kh Ibeyaima Devi, Th Kashi Meitei, Th Kullachandra Meitei and Th Ibopishak from Heirok Part (II) .
