Politics is not like changing undies : O Joy

Charging that Nagaland Government has formed an alliance with the NSCN (IM) to break apart Manipur, Opposition MLA and leader of MPP's Legislature Wing O Joy has stated every section of the people should be aware of the fact Nagaland Government and NSCN (IM) are trying to send in their sponsored candidates to the State Assembly.
Addressing a Wakat Meepham staged under the aegis of MPP Youth Front at Wabagai Lamkhai Bazar today to protest prolong imposition of economic blockade along the National Highways, O Joy cautioned the people that Nagaland Government and NSCN (IM) planning to send their sponsored candidates to the State Assembly to break up Manipur.
Expressing unhappiness that the people did not heed when MPP gave a clarion call just ahead of the 9th Manipur Legislative Assembly election that some people who are hell-bent on challenging the integrity of Manipur would be send in, O Joy observed that the Parliament and the State Assembly are the only places where Manipur can be broken up into pieces.
Keeping this in mind, eight Independent MLAs have been send in to the State Assembly and Mani Charanamei as an MP in the Parliament.
The matter is going to be more serious in the upcoming 10th election to the State Assembly.
If 10 to 12 sponsored candidates of Nagaland Government and NSCN (IM) were elected to the Assembly this time, they would certainly create some problems, and this fact should be understood by all, O Joy said.
Stating that the history of politics in the last five years should be recalled, O Joy questioned where the elected MLAs from the valley were hiding when the eight Independent sponsored candidates started speaking against the territorial integrity of Manipur.
Which one is more important, repairing roads or protecting the integrity of Manipur ?, O Joy asked, adding that it is the bounden duty of the elected MLAs to safeguard the territorial integrity of Manipur and not just constructing buildings and markets.
Manipur has come to its present sorry state while thinking only about respective Kendras.
Representatives to the Assembly should be elected not under consideration of the sympathy, looks of the candidates or to someone who comes to bow down, O Joy observed.
O Joy said that he has heard people talking about some MPP MLAs lobbying for Congress tickets.
Their intention may be to join the Government and become Minister.
But they should understand that politics is not like changing under-wears.
Its a sign of cowardice and they would never get what they set out for.
O Joy maintained that Congress ticket has always been after him but he would never accept it because it is something that should be touch.
It is a party which would bargain off the State and its land.
What MPP wants is not that.
If atleast two or three party MLAs, who would actually work and take up issues of the State and its people, are elected then it is more than enough.
