PMKSY projects reviewed in Bishnupur

Bishnupur, July 28 2025:
A Central team led by Dr Krishan Kumar, Managing Director, NHIDCL visited Bishnupur district today to review the progress of projects under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY), with a special focus on Extension, Renovation and Modernisation (ERM) of Loktak Lift Irrigation (LLI) Project.
During the visit, Dr Krishan Kumar held a review meeting with Deputy Commissioner Bishnupur, Pooja Elangbam, and officials including the State and District Nodal Officers of PMKSY (ERM - Loktak Project).
K Kiran Singh, Addl Chief Engineer-I, WRD, provided a detailed briefing on the ongoing works, especially the Loktak Lift Irrigation Project, which was approved in 2022 under PMKSY-AIBP by the Department of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation, Ministry of Jal Shakti.
The Central team assessed key components of the project including pumping infrastructure and canal systems and reviewed the overall progress made over the past five years.
Discussions also included project timelines, bottlenecks, and measures required for timely completion.
The Central team which also included Dr SS Singh, Scientist-D(HG), Central Ground Water Board, NER and Nishant Kumar, EE, NEID-II, Central Water Commission, Aizawl visited several field sites such as Moirang Low Level Canal located at Thamnapokpi, Naranseina, Sunushiphai, and the LLI Pump House I at Ningthoukhong.
During the visit, the team met farmers and interacted with them.
Some of the farmers expressed gratitude for the adequate water supply in their area which allows timely irrigation.
Dr Krishan Kumar called for implementation of projects like the PM-KUSUM scheme (Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan), which aims to ensure energy security for farmers through solar-powered irrigation solutions.
Senior officials including Rohit Ahanthem, Superintending Engineer, Irrigation Circle-II, Water Resources Department and Tolerence Saka, Executive Engineer, Irrigation Maintenance Division-II and other departmental staff were also present during the visit.
