District Administration Senapati holds follow up meet on "Clean Senapati River" campaign

Senapati, April 28 2025: The Deputy Commissioner of Senapati Mamoni Doley, IAS today chaired a follow-up meeting on 'Clean Senapati River Campaign' at DC Conference Hall, Senapati.

The meeting was attended by Rang David Kung, MCS, Additional District Magistrate, Senapati, Adahrii Maheo, MCS, Chief Executive Officer/ADC, Senapati, PP Ronald, MCS, Project Director, DRDA, Senapati, Thangkhochon Haokip, MPS, ADSP, Senapati, CSOs (NPO, SDWA and SDSA), Karong Senapati Town Committees President and its member, Chairman and Secretary along with Youth President of all locality and colonies.

The meeting deliberated on the agendas of - construction of waste collection centres, rationalisation of waste collection routes, requirement of inventory, penalizing for disposal of wastes into Senapati river, ban on Single Use Plastics (SUPs) and constitution of task force for Clean Senapati River Campaign.

During the meeting, Mamoni Doley welcomed the gathering and applauded the SDOs, CEO/ADC, Senapati, CSOs and all the participants who have participated in the "Clean Senapati River" campaign.

Adahrii Maheo while highlighting the status report of Clean Senapati River Campaign, mentioned that the first round of cleaning the Senapati river began on OctNov, 2024 by the Karong Senapati Town Committee, in the second round of the campaign carried out in the month of February-March, 2025, 70 tonnes of garbage were collected from the 8 kilometres road stretch from Mt Everest College parking area to Kathikho Karong and a total number of 70 illegal structures were dismantled in the eviction drive carried out in Senapati town, he added.

Meanwhile, Rang David Kung during the meeting has informed the gathering that an eviction drive along NH-02 will begin shortly and thereby appealed the gathering to sensitize their locality to remove illegal structure along the highway.

Panii Ngaonii, SDC, Senapati also enlightened the attendee with the insightful knowledge on Solid Waste Management through PPT .
