Tamenglong, January 09 2024: A district level Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) in respect of Tamenglong District has been constituted in connection with the forthcoming 18th Lok Sabha Election, 2024 .

The committee has been formed in pursuance of the Chief Electoral Officer Manipur letter dated January 2, 2024 .

The District Election Officer, DC, Tamenglong District has been appointed as the chairman of the committee while HL Christian Home, ADM has been appointed as member secretary.

The other committee members includes D Meidinbui, SDO Tamenglong; Anthony Gangmei, DIO (IPR) Tamenglong; Dirai Pame, Field Publicity Assistant, Central Bureau of Communication, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and Daniel Kamei, correspondent of ISTV and Imphal Free Press.

The terms of reference for the MCMC of Tamenglong district shall be matters related to election on pre-certification of advertisement and paid news.

The main purpose for appointing a Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) at district level is for checking paid news and advertisement and to scrutinise all media contents within its jurisdiction to identify political advertisement in the garb of news.
