Schemes/projects of Department of Horticulture & Soil Conservation stressed

Imphal, April 28 2025: A one-day awareness/sensitization programme on Schemes/Projects implemented by Department of Horticulture & Soil Conservation cum Distribution of Planting Materials under RKVY-CAFETERIA, 2023-24 was organized today at the Community Hall, Lamdangmei Village, Noney District.

The program was organised by the District Office (Horti & Soil Conservation), Noney in collaboration with Pingjang Farmer Producer Company Limited.

The inaugural function was graced by Stiff Khapudang, MCS, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Noney, as the chief guest, Dr Roshan Dangmei, Horticulture Development Officer, as the president and Dr Adam Kamei, Plant Protection Officer and Officer-in-charge of the Central Integrated Pest Management Centre, Imphal, and Franky, Chairman of Lamdangmei Village, as guests of honour.

Speaking at the event, Dr Roshan Dangmei, Horticulture Development Officer elaborated on the various schemes and activities undertaken by the Department of Horticulture and Soil Conservation.

Encouraging the activities of the Horticulture Department, the chief guest, Stiff Khapudang, MCS, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Noney, advocated for the use of organic pesticides to control various pests and diseases and urged the participating farmers to avail themselves of the benefits offered through the available schemes under the Horticulture Department.

Dr Adam Kamei shared valuable insights on the application of organic pesticides and the utilization of various pheromone traps for the effective control of insect pests affecting horticulture crops.

Later as part of the programme, planting materials of banana, orange saplings and ginger rhizomes were distributed to the 92 participating farmers.
